So as the life of Wild World starts to die down into a hush, lets not forget what this expansion brought to the franchise as a whole. Many 'complain' that ACWW did not have enough when it did. I will point them out.
- Bringing in new tools such as the slingshot, timer, and watering can supplement gameplay, and while unrelated and possible to go without these, they did help.
- A first in the series with Wi-Fi and one of the first steps Nintendo made into online territory alongside Mario Kart DS and Metroid Prime: Hunters.
- Wild World gave birth to a few vital characters for the series to follow on such as Harriet, Brewster and.. that otter.. guy..
- Many, MANY new items were created such as the new category of glasses & hats with many more shirts and umbrellas alike. It also gave players the ability to have unqiue hairstyles.
- Acres, good.. or bad, have been removed.
- We begin to see the series become more and more modern, as this is clearly evident in Animal Crossing: City Folk, but small changes in Wild World hint to this.
- Nintendo became active with players by communication through letters and more. They even distributed one-of-a-kind items through Wi-Fi.
- Along with benefits of Wi-Fi, some evils were made public like the glitch tulip and the way of 'ninjaing', which means online cannot always be trusted all the time.
- Action Replay/Cheating was made hated in general through this game, in which items could easily be gotten through hacking. Myself and others say in the few weeks before AR codes released for AC:WW, was the only time online was 'pure'.

What does that have to do with anything?

I'll agree with Kyle that the first few weeks were the only time it was pure.

Lets hope the same doesn't happen to City Folk... or it at least takes longer.

Those are very valid reasons Ky!e. Some of us were blind to have seen and remembered to appreciate this.

I completely agree, "hacking" basically dropped the 3-4 week old Ac:ww in the head. In about 1-3 months of more people learning to cheat, people begging for those "hackers" as friends sprouted intensely and people annoyed about those people too. Part of having a nice item is to have people go in awe on it but another part was to have rightfully earned it. It was never right, theres probably someone who worked ages for a crown while another person has a field full of royal crowns.
If hacking never came this game's life would've probably been extended. Don't you think?

I agree 100%.
The Mario/Nintendo items would actually have extreme value, like the 8-bit coin, since you had to have the game within 3 months of release. The Metroid, Pipe and Block would have actual meaning.
Royal Crowns and regular Crowns were to seperate the rich from the poverty, the newbies to the elite.

The damn codes ruined it all.

Its worse than Time Travelling (which in I am guilty of, so I could make saplings grow to adult D:) because the bank wasn't affected by the year jump and it wouldn't mean instant wealth. Items like that actually had value...

I got back to playing ACWW today and re-fell in love with it. Besides, my character is HOT!!!
