I've seen a few threads asking "how can I get (blank) resource?" and thought I'd offer some help. I play an embarrassingly high amount of hours, because I work from home and just put it on in the background so I've come to learn quite a bit about this game
mushrooms:
these are directly tied to your town rating. the higher your rating, the more likely you are to get the rarer mushrooms
mushroom diys:
these come at random in the balloons. colors make no difference. I, too, wish the balloons would come more often as the mushroom diys are not the only ones I'm missing
pinecones and acorns:
these are a struggle as well. my tip: shake your trees 10 times. if none come out after that, move on. one shake is not enough. I've gotten acorns and pinecones from one shake but more often than not it's taken between 3-6 shakes to get the goods
