So me and my friend bet on a hot crossed bun... She says that the cross is made from icing, but I said that I disagree because it doesn't taste anything like icing.
I googled it and it said it was made from water and flour ~ some of the other answers said otherwise.

Help put an end to this bet already so I can take home my hot crossed bun and heat it up in the toaster.

Edit: Thanks to you all, I got my free hot crossed bun<3 thanks guys!

yes you're right from what I know (I've never heard of one with icing as the cross). go and enjoy your buns!

edit: im pretty sure its generally just floury(?) pastey(?) stuff (from the ones I've eaten anyway) but I wouldn't say it's wrong to have icing - I've just never heard of it that's all

I think it is just water and flour, they had a documentary on the BBC about supermarkets in the spring and they showed the Sainsbury's bakery making hot cross buns and they said it was just water and flour...

They taste like **** so idc

It's probs made from some povo ingredient

It's water and flour, but if it was icing, i think it would've been baked.
