So lately there has been lots of excitement and hopes for an Animal Crossing for the Wii U. But with one Animal Crossing spin off after another...to me it doesn't seem like we will be getting a full fledged Animal Crossing Wii U anytime soon. I understand why. Nintendo is very busy with the development of new games and they have a tight budget to work around. I am also thinking that with 2 new animal crossing spin off titles that have just been released...wouldn't they have time to make another full animal crossing game for the Wii U?

I don't think we will get an Animal Crossing Wii U ever. They're saving that for their next console.

I definitely feel like they will be saving a fill animal crossing game for the next console as well.

At first i was so sure that they would do that but it's kind of out of the question now. What I want to see in the next installment is a much bigger and better AC the fanbase has ever seen! It makes sense...like it it were to go on the wii u it would basically be the same as ACNL but with a couple of added features or whatnot. I trust that Nintendo know what they are doing with the franchise.

3DS and Wii U are both being replaced by the NX. Unless they announce ACU at the upcoming E3 show (which I also doubt now), it's not going to happen.

im pretty sure its not replacing anything, unless all these sources are incorrect..?

If you're talking about the recent interview with Kimishima, all he said is that the NX is not a continuation of the Wii/Wii U-style hardware. It's not a successor in the sense that its hardware is completely different from the last two generations.

If you were talking about something else, please elaborate and give some links.

I hate to admit it but, the NX is coming so soon already so i don't think that a new Animal Crossing game will be releasing on the Wii U. They probably had one in development but that turned into amiibo festival due to the succes of amiibo (Just a theory lol).

They've said before that new consoles won't be replacing old ones. The DS wasn't going to replace the GBA, but it did. I think they said the same in regards to the Wii not replacing the Gamecube, but don't quote me on that one.

What they're really saying is "we'll see how well it sells before dropping support on the old consoles. That way if it's another mega failure like the virtual boy, we can drop it like hot **** and pretend that it was never supposed to be a successor in the first place".

I'd like to add: the Wii is still supported, as it's been getting releases this year. DS support wasn't dropped until the end of last year. Kimishima saying "we want to make sure people with a Wii U still get games" is him stating the obvious, as it's just common business practice to do that. Sony and Microsoft do it as well - doesn't mean the XBOne and PS4 didn't replace the XB360 and PS3 respectively.

To add some more on-topic talk, I think with the success of Wild World and New Leaf, and how badly received City Folk was, Nintendo might rather want to focus on a handheld title again. Which would put the next non-spin-off installment on the NX.

I would much rather a handheld AC game anyway. It's more fun to have it portable imo.

I'm not sure though, it's hard to say. One could say that they don't want to "revive a dead console" but Nintendo is putting Minecraft on the Wii U so it seems like they aren't done with the Wii U yet.
