It feels like New Leaf just came out for some reason and now people are speculating an AC game for the nintendo NX! I want at least one more year with NL ;_; Also I'm not that excited how the next AC will be on a home system instead of a portable one probably, so maybe its just me. New Leaf was a really good game. It still is!

I kind get what you mean but I am still exited for the next animal crossing.

I feel like no one will play acnl when I finish my town and then no one can be there to appreciate it and all my hard work will go to waste I guess?

But isn't the NX going to be a portable and a home console? Lol sorry if I'm wrong, I don't catch up with all this news. If it is only a home console my god I will die. Also I don't want it to be out expensive so I can have my own one because I don't want to share one with my family...

I sure as heck hope it doesn't come out on the NX. It's just another gimmicky piece of crap that Nintendo will pump out and then neglect shortly after. :) I'm really ready for a new animal crossing although I am prepared to be disappointed.

The NX is a console/handheld hybrid. You'll be able to enjoy your next town on the go and on the big screen at home.

Anyone wishing that Animal Crossing doesn't come to the NX are just, well, would you rather them just put the series on the shelf next to Metroid and F-Zero then? Because what you are saying when you say that you hope that they don't put the next game on their next console is basically "I want them to end the Animal Crossing series."

No, the NX is a handheld device that locks into a docking bay that connects to your TV via HDMI. Rumors suggest that it's going to be at least as powerful as the Xbox One, if not a bit weaker than that. The controller/screen is the console itself and patents filed by Nintendo suggest that controller attachments will be made available that can attach to the console so you can take it and play on the go.

It will use cartridges(similar to 3DS) for its games and will not be backwards compatible.

im just waiting to see what the portable part will look like, from what ive seen from rumors and leaks and whatnot it doesnt look that appealing but thats just me

@Blue Cup I'm not sure if this is correct but from your post are you saying that the NX won't have a wireless connection to appear on your TV screen?

That is correct.

There's a supposed docking device that the portable device plugs into. This piece connects to your TV like any other console or DVD/BD player, projecting the image onto the television. What hasn't really been talked about in any leak or rumor yet is how we control it from afar after the handheld is docked. My own personal assumption is it will come with its own wireless controller or we can use the Wii U Pro Controller.

It won't be like the relationship the Wii U shares with its gamepad at all.

I'm not exactly excited for a new animal crossing tbh..but if it looks any good, I'll only buy it if I'm able to play it on a handheld console.

Well, I mean, if you get an NX you're getting a handheld and a home console in the same package.

I guess, but besides I don't really wanna buy a whole new game system just for one game. I'd rather spend my money on something else, honestly.

I'm on the same boat, I'm not prepared for another AC. However, if they decided to update NL 3 years after its release it must mean another title isn't coming in a long time. Remember they also worked on HHD and Amiibo Party, so the new game must be in a very early stage of development, if it is even started.

They could've just not updated the game and release a new title, but they decided to update NL because they know we won't have another main title for a while. And if the next game is coming for the NX, it certainly won't be a launch title; that possibly goes to a Mario Bros/Kart.

I'm excited to get a new AC game, whether it's on a new console or not. Either way we'll most likely be getting the NX when it's out as my partner mostly plays Nintendo games or else PC ones. We don't own any home console aside from my Wii U (bought so I could play AC:CF though we mostly play Lego on).

That said - I'm nowhere near done with NL yet! I'm planning on buying a 3rd copy soon and recently went out and bought all the AC amiibos and have made serious inroads in the quest for complete sets of series 1-4 cards. I went from owning none of either to all and *lots*, respectively, purely because of the NL update news. I don't even care what the update adds to the game, I was just thrilled to learn that it's happening. And to have a reason to buy those amiibos..

I don't think the next proper AC game will kill off all interest in NL. I remember I was far from alone in keeping up my WW towns long after I started NL, and that was just amongst people I know. Online, we'll still be able to connect and interact for as long as that functionality is maintained.

Yeah honestly I think they should just update new leaf until the new game comes out for whatever system. it would keep the fans occupied.

That's disappointing that the NX handheld console wont be wireless to a TV because wireless would be easier for the player because you wouldn't have to hook it back up a lot if you go places with the handheld console a lot... but if they do make a new AC I hope they make it for the 3ds too because the NX seems like a waste of money, until Nintendo proves that its a decent console that's my opinion.

I feel the same way. While I'm certainly excited about the possibility, I'm the kind of person who never likes change, even if it's for the better. I don't like the idea of really getting into the next AC and possibly abandoning my NL towns I've worked so hard on.
I also don't like that if/when the new game comes out, I'll have to start from scratch again. If/When the game first comes out there's not going to be any guides on how to get certain things, no QR Codes, etc.

But as Altarium said, we likely aren't getting it for a long time.

Yeahh the game is really good and I just wish Nintendo can continue with the style of new leaf and the previous ones before that. But I guess change can be good too, just change in new games for animal crossing that can top the previous is even better! I wish there were animal crossing plushies everywhere to buy D;

You'd probably be able to scan New Leaf qr codes like you can in Happy Home Designer, but yeah we would have to start from scratch. The only AC games I've seen come out while actually knowing about the series and playing it are only HHD and Amiibo Festival. I never knew about the other games when I started ACNL because ACCF came out when I was like 3 or 4 and I didn't pay attention to commercials then, so seeing a new big game will be really exciting for me. But I have 3 towns not even close to half finished. I have never finished 1 of my towns I've reset all of them so many times, by now I probably have had over 20 towns. But I think I'm gonna keep the ones I have now, my first town I never really had any plans for and it had no theme, there was trash everywhere because I thought I'd use everything, but some parts of that town were really nice and I hope I can put parts like them in other towns in New Leaf or the new game. When I started acnl I started from scratch with no help, but now starting from scratch will be kinda hard for me.
