I'm Confused. Clarification Please? (Villager trading for NMT)

I have seen some people come forward in other threads and claim that getting nook mile tickets through hacking is actually possible. (they mentioned something about homebrew on the switch? mairen doesn't understand much about that stuff).

This makes sense. Hacking the Switch is not an unknown thing. I have seen many a MK8 Deluxe hacker play and even players in the Pokemon Sword and Shield community are witnessing hackers too. Regardless, it seems hacking was the case that started the NMT currency blowout. A real shame. ACNL was a mess after a while so it's only natural this would take it's course.

Hmm, interesting. So the dupe glitch was patched? I assume people are getting a lot of NMT by just getting lucky I'm receiving a very high requested dreamie and just asking for whatever everyone else asks for (IGB/NMT) as currency and then they get offers? So then that "normal" player is now among the ranks with the "high rollers" dealing with NMT.

I know it still doesn't explain how those players received that much NMT but I can only guess logically how the NMT are being passed around? 🤔

I’ve seen someone post on Twitter how they are abusing time travel with a method to quickly receive 500 nook miles when they load their game, then save & quit, change the date, load it back up to get another 500, so that is how people are very quickly getting unlimited amounts of nook miles tickets because they can essentially cheat it & get 2000 miles in just a couple of minutes, roughly 1 NMT for every 5 minutes of time travelling.

I won’t be doing it as I personally don’t ever want to time travel or cheat in any way as I think it spoils the whole game.

Ahh, yes, that is how I initially thought they (as I'm most players) ate receiving thatuch NMT yes, but I guess my question I'm trying to get across is how exactly did anybody get NMT that high to begin with? I mean, high enough to constantly pass them out as currency? I'd say only 1% of the ACNH population to even remotely receive 500 NMT let alone 1000+ must have used some type of glitch or hack? If it's not a dupe, then a hack is clearly imminent no?
I see what you're saying. That's certainly a possibility. There is a save editor for this game and you can add whatever items you want, with whatever quantities. Although on the other hand, you also have the people that duped and made tons of bells buying up everyone's NMT. There's no one source of all the tickets. Chalk it up to a mixture of homebrew and dupers.

I think that is the case as well. I figured as much. I told people that the game would be hacked in less than two weeks of its arrival lol They didn't believe me.

you were right, lol. save editor for the game was up, like a couple days after launch. these are the people that are selling tons of NMT on ebay, ofc. it's sad to see, but it is what it is

I do think the prices are a bit ridiculous. It's unfair for little to no TT players like me. The most I've had is 40K NMT, so I'm nowhere near the prices ppl are putting out for these villagers. But you will also come across easygoing traders that give less pricey villager options that are more afforable for ppl like me. It was kind of the same with TBT early on and it got balanced out, so I'm sure it will balance out eventually too. (i hope, lol)

Yup! I appreciate the feedback to help me get clarity on this ☺️ I assumed it was hackers, but I wasn't completely sure lol

I guess it could be a preference thing. I have a fairly big list of villagers that I like and I like the resources(bamboo, diy recipes, furniture, hybrid)from going to the islands so the benefits of using the miles to travel outweigh those of using the Miles as currency.

Well, even if you have a lot of tickets, the villagers that show up are pure RNG and let me tell you RNG can fail you very easily.
