I'm a bit self conscious about my town...

everyone starts somewhere. someone who is reasonable and nice isn't going to put you down, they'll give you constructive suggestions!

and besides, a big part of the fun of animal crossing is the "journey" to get to your "perfect town", i.e. not what the game determines as a perfect town, but a town that you yourself are really happy with. if you were able to do it in a day, it wouldn't mean as much to you and the game would be over.

Itsok! Most people who go all out with their towns are and have been involved in a large AC community for a long while. Think of it as inspiration more than anything else :>

I myself only found at the end of years of WW. I didn't even consider paths because I was like "how could that look good ew"- then I found some really beautiful towns and I was like "whoa i want"; now I'm hellbent on a night/cute/steelnmagic theme for my town. It's really all about you. If you're self conscious (I sympathize, I am doing this), don't open Dream Address until you feel like your town is ready and have a few people you trust on the side come around and help sometimes!

Decorating a town can be really fun, try not to stress about it. 8'D I'm actually scared I'll finish early and then lose interest (NOPE)

Cause people are aware that they shouldn't wander around your town after a trade (unless friendly visit) to not prolong your time in case you have something else to do, and not to leave the train station is a typical rules here, an aware that they will not go off your sight and cast any suspicion =x

I joined yesterday, but I've had Animal Crossing since last June, and I still don't know what a ''dreamie'' is. I mean, I know it's a dream villager, but I don't understand why people have dream villagers; I just take anyone and accept them, heh. I do have some villagers that I don't want to move out though, so I can relate to that.

I joined here because I want to visit other's towns/have others visit me. tbh I'm really into the badge mechanism of New Leaf, so I'm trying to fill that up, too. My town is pretty worn, too, so I guess if someone visited they'd notice that!

Don't have to get stress decorating your town =D

I once had people telling me "eww the path you choose isn't nice" and I myself also felt a little after those words. But think about it, nobody will be at the town more than you yourself do, so just do what you like and that's what most important. You love your own town, you impress by your own creation, impress others are just a little not the main matter =x

I used to think putting path and all the pwps, bushes, are hard, fake and so, more like how should I do that?!! But after keep on visiting dreams and get inspiration, now I am slowly working on my town =D my dream address was constantly update cause I love people to see my progress =x

I'm definitely self conscious about my town still. I have my paths how I want them, a lot of the villagers I want (some of them popular) and a moderate amount of hybrids and public works projects. Even so, some people just have these amazing towns that are so well-planned and I'm just like haha wow, yeah, never visit my town omg, don't look at me╭(๑?д?๑)╮

My town just needs some work; it might be less of an embarrassment eventually ahah c: To be honest I'm primarily unhappy with it because it doesn't live up to my own standards, not so much the standards of others. Once I'm satisfied with it myself I won't be so concerned with anyone else's opinion of it.

I like my town paths but they're so awkwardly placed. Oh well. I like the bushes that I have decorated around and I guess my PWP's are placed okay. The only annoying thing is trying to place a bridge down and it's too close to something...when it really, really isn't!

Haha, my town is nothing and I've had my game for nearly a year! I just don't feel like landscaping as some people do, I guess. I dunno, just doesn't interest me as much.

I am in the same boat as you. I played AC for the gamecube when it first came out when I was a teenager and back then nobody had the internet to do anything in AC with, so I just played the way I want and had no clue about flowers or anything. Now I got ACNL and still had no clue about pathing or flowers or villagers. I found myself suddenly thrust into a whole community who cared about hybrids, pathing.. and at first I didn't care about the way my town looked or any of that at all.. I just wanted to play the game. But when I saw some of the beautiful towns I suddenly wanted to participate in the community and make my town beautiful. Needless to say i'm way late to the party like most newbies, and as my town is currently I feel like if someone saw it I would be mortified that my pathing isn't as good as theirs, I have no hybrids, my flower placement seems random in areas and I have very few PWP's.

That said I have come to the conclusion that you just need to care about how the town makes YOU feel when you're playing, because you're the only one that's going to be in it ALL the time, like everyone else said. My goal is not to be pleasant to other people, but to make a town that looks a way that would make me want to just bliss out while i'm standing in it, a town that causes a positive emotional reaction in me. That's my suggestion. :)

And don't worry about what other people say about your town if it's negative. Remember everybody has different opinions. While one person may say your town is ugly because it has worn grass, another may love the rustic, natural feel of it or even love that it has natural pathing. While one person may say your town is ugly because it has very few flowers, another may love the spacious feeling that brings! For example I noticed looking at all the towns that are commonly judged as "beautiful" that like, practically EVERY inch of their town is FILLED with something.. flowers, PWP's, paths, houses.. and personally I feel claustrophobic looking at it and don't like it much. That's why my town doesn't have tons of flowers.

Happy decorating :)

I'm so lazy when it comes to decorating my town. I'll start something and never finish; I have a path that just stops in the middle and I can't be bothered to do anything about it, especially as I want to change the paths I do have (and who knows when I'll actually get around to doing that). I played WW on and off for at least five years and never did anything impressive to it. It was only after I saw what other people had done that I wanted to have a go.

Point is, don't worry about it. We've all either been there or are there and if someone's going to be mean about it they aren't worth the time of day, frankly. Just do what you enjoy.

We all start somewhere! Everyone had a barren town at one point, anyone here who says otherwise is kidding themselves, haha. I know how you feel though, when I first joined here I was in aww at all the beautiful towns, rare villagers, items, and overall amazing fricking people! Compared to most people I was a simple maiden in a potatoe sack and everyone else was Cinderella ready for the ball of a lifetime.

That's the point of connecting with people here, though. You can find so much help in building your town how you want it! Towns don't have to be hybrids left and right or every (not using this term seriously, but jokingly, don't kill me) "kawaii" villager in the game. Your town is yours and it's what you want it to be, what makes you happy. You don't spend $40 on the game to please others (though some do, cyclers, etc.), you do it for your enjoyment.

Besides, do you want people who are going to judge you for a virtual town? Heck no! You want people that will love you for you and enjoy your company in your town. I use to apologize for my town, saying sorry for my town being a mess, but I stopped eventually and just enjoy being around wonderful people here. I think you will become comfortable overtime.

If you still don't feel comfortable, shoot me a PM and I will help you make your town something that will make you comfortable with.

Afterall, being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect, it means that you've decided to look past imperfections.

You've gotta realize that the people with awesome towns as you say have had to put forth a TON of work into making those towns that way. At the end of the day you gotta do whatever makes you happy.

If your dream town is just normal and nothing special, worn out grass, some weeds and some junk laying around here and there and you're perfectly happy with that then that's great. If you want a nice clean cut town with a certain theme or certain villagers than that's great too! It's ultimately up to you to decide what you want to do.

Personally even though I do/would get jealous over seeing some freaking outstanding town designs, I do sit back and think "wow that must've taken hundreds of hours to complete, I'm glad I wasn't the one who had to do all this work". That's what stops me from getting too jealous and wanting to possibly copy other towns. Although I do like to take inspiration or certain ideas from other towns and implement them into mine.

I know others wouldn't think my town is great. No paths, tons of trees, I let villagers plot where the want but I love my town and that is what matters. Your town, your house. :)
