If you had one "tool slot" in your inventory what would you put there?

Random question for you guys! (The stuff I come up with in my sociology class)

If ACNL had a space in your inventory for one tool that you could keep on you at all times and not have it count towards the other 16 items, what tool would it be? The others would go into your regular inventory.

Mine would be the slingshot. I hate having it in my inventory because I rarely use it and I could use that space for a fish or bug. But I want the balloon popping badges, which you can't really get without a slingshot.

if it was just one slot I'd rather just continue like I do now: drop what I'm not using regularly at the time into a pile and come back to pick up as need be

plus from the way you're describing it, it sounds like you couldn't quick switch to it like the other tools which just sounds way too inconvenient for me to bother

Honestly I think I'd be more interested in seeing what tools people would choose for their most common setup to use if it was a tool slot with 3-4 spaces, but tools ALWAYS went there and could never go anywhere else.

Definitely a fishing rod - it's my favorite activity, and very relaxing. I can sit in bed after a long day's work and just fish for hours just for the fun of it. I don't need the bells, and my museum and all my encyclopedias are 100% complete, I just like the satisfaction of hearing that "ploop" and then reeling in a rare fish!

I don't know if this counts, but I would always want to have a balloon on me. Or a glow wand. That'd be pretty cute.

Honestly, I only really carry three tools in my inventory anyways.

I hold my gold axe and gold shove in my inventory permentaly and Carry my gold can on myself

You don't mess with me and my shovel. I bring that thing everywhere. It's the one tool I have at all times now that my fishing/bug catching are at like 98%.
