If you had 600 NMT...

I island hopped for fun with like 25 tickets a while back and let me tell you.. the fun kinda dies between having to watch the agonizingly slow unskippable flying cut scene dozens of times to see the same villagers come up repeatedly since you only have 1 personality type missing in your town that you're going out of your way to avoid.

I might use like 100-200 to buy villagers then I might Island hop if I can't find a specific one. If I have any leftovers I keep half and give the other half to my sibling

I'd island hop. It would be more fun. I know I wouldn't be guaranteed anything, but I'd enjoy myself more. I also would feel like I earned the dreamie myself if I actually got it.

In New Leaf, I ended up trading for a lot of things and I felt like I ruined my fun of not earning it myself. I noticed I cared for the items and villagers I earned on my own more than the stuff I traded for (with the exception of stuff impossible to get on my own, like region-exclusive stuff). I've been working on earning everything myself in NH because of that feeling. I am enjoying the game a lot more so far.

Personally I would island hop because like that you get to meet and see many villagers, some who you maybe didn't even know and I really like that aspect of nook mile islands! Also I am always short on wood so that would be a great way of getting more resources. But also I would feel more satisfied if I found my dreamies through islands rather than just buying them, it would feel more personal!

I was in this position and I island hopped and I didn't even find all of the ones I wanted, but at the time I had a different dreamy list if I'd known I wanted an all deer village then I would've had many to spare lol

I love island hopping, but I can't do it more than 5-10 times in a row. @Believe - I'm with you on the cut scenes.

If I received them, I'd likely split my uses. Some for island hopping, giveaways, and for buying villagers. I'm not able to participate in auctions for dreamies because I don't farm NMT often enough.

I island hopped and got raymond in less than 10 tickets, along with a bunch of other popular villagers (notably audie/ruby/marina) way too quickly so it's probably in the cards that my luck is so outrageous that I should island hop.

That being said, I pretty much have all my dreamies at this point (or waiting for amiibo to come from my parents atm) so there's no real point to me hopping all too much anyways.

Probably giveaways or just buying the items I want for me, haha.

Well, i started off island hopping with a couple hundred tickets at a time, but i guess the odds were against me since i never found my dreamie, so I just bought him...for 30 tickets mind you. Island hopping is still good because you can get a piece of furniture from each island plus bonus recipes, fossils, and rock-hitting opportunities.

Aww I like that :)

For sure island hop. There's more to mystery islands than just potential villagers. 600 tickets will get you a ton of building materials.

I'd Island hop but I wouldn't use all the NMT's on it, tbh.
When I Island hop I tend to look out for villagers that I find cute/interesting - not necessarily dreamies.
That way it's less likely to be disappointed.
I'm hopeful we will be able to use NMT's for other amenities/furniture in the future.

I don't have all the amiibos, so I would totally island hop! It's fun! Though I would try not to do them all in one day if I could help it. This would be a case of writing down what day I started hopping and just TT to stay on the same date until I was done hopping.
