If you could have many other islands, how would you theme them?

I've always wondered and imagined what would I do if I had several other islands. I would love if we had other islands because that way I would create many other ideas. My current town is named Châlons, a French-style town, with several historical elements, from the 11th century to the 19th century. However, this is my list of ideas for other towns that I would have liked to create as well (if you have any town based on any of these ideas, be sure to tell me, I'd love to see pics of your town, or maybe I could help you plan some things!):
  • Wonderland from Alice in Wonderland: There is just so much about that book and movie that could be created and put into a town. For villagers, I'd have Bob as the Cheshire Cat, Gabi as the White Rabbit (despite she being a female); O'Hare as the March hare, Greta as the Dormouse, Felicity for Dinah, and I don't know about the other ones! Any suggestions? I would put the tea party, Alice's house, the Queen of Heart's house, and many other remarkable places, and obviously some designs which said eat me or drink me. I'd love to see if someone actually creates a town like this! For players, they would be Alice, Queen of Hearts (red) , The Hatter, the Duchess and maybe the White queen.
  • Spanish City in Western Mexico: I'd love to recreate a 16th-19th century town in the Spanish colonies in Mexico, specifically, Guadalajara, my hometown! Guadalajara was founded in 1543 by the Spanish, so it would be so interesting to recreate my hometown centuries ago. I'd put forts, churches, crops, bridges, a market, many trees and many elements from Spanish folklore. For villagers, cows, horses, birds, deer, rabbits, wolves and others would be perfect. I would like to put as well in a separated area a small town of the Natives of Mexico.
  • Post-WW2 European town: Maybe this one is not as appealing, but it would be interesting to create a town in ruins after WW2, a town in process of being rebuilt.
  • Acadian Town: I'd love to create a town in the French colonies in Canada! I'd put everything like 17th or 18th century-themed, I'd also put many trees and villagers like bears, wolves, deer, rabbits, birds, horses, etc. I'd also put a small section in my town where the Native American tribes live, it would be interesting!
  • Post-WW2 Berlin: I think it would be really fun to have a town divided in two by a big wall in the middle, resembling the Berlin Wall. I'd also theme each side respectively, and I'd only have a certain bridge or entrance that you could cross to go from West Berlin to East Berlin and vice versa. I'd be fun having also 5 villagers living on each side, which would hardly ever interact with each other!
  • National Park: This idea is pretty simple, a national park, probably in Canada with lots of rivers, ponds, waterfalls, trees, etc. as well as camping tents. Villagers would be bears, wolves, deer, anteater, rabbits, cubs, eagles, birds, squirrels, etc. This town would have no bricked paths, only dirt ones.
  • Antarctic base town: A town, always set in winter, with many penguins, bears, or wolves! I'd theme some of the houses as Antarctic research bases. I'd also put very few trees, and some ice sculptures.
  • Melbourne/Australian town: I would really like to make a town based on the British colony of Melbourne (or even, an alternative French colony in Melbourne!) It would obviously put many kangaroos and koalas, as well as many other animals and elements from the colonization era in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Tell me what are your other ideas that you would have liked to create? What do you think of these ideas? What you you add or change?

I have way too many ideas that I wish I could incorporate onto my island, but if I did, it would be inconsistent and it would drive me crazy.

In terms of themes I want to pursue though, I’ve always wanted to do a mountainous island that would have alpine vibe to it. Think of Switzerland, with the steep icy mountains and mixed with the bright green hills and crystal blue waters.

Another theme I really wanted to pursue was a Wild West era town that would have sprawling roads and old styled buildings. My inspiration behind this would be like the cities you would encounter in Red Dead Redemption 2. I would imagine it to be a mixture of very rural areas, mixed it with rustic infrastructures and large farm fields.

Also another theme I would love would be a traditional fishing town. If we had the option to have more piers, I actually would have pursued this. Think of areas like St. John’s, New Foundland in Canada, with colourful houses close to the water and with lots of rocky areas close to the ocean.

Maybe I should be glad that I’m stuck with one island, since I would literally spend countless hours working away.😂

My brain can only handle one symmetrical, non-themed island. I can't imagine going through terraforming on a whole other island. Nope, won't do it. Nuh uh....

I would have:

- a gothic themed island. With at least 1 cemetary, and only red, white, and black flowers. Holly bushes and pine trees everywhere. Villagers off the top of my head would include: Muffy, Coco, Rasher, Roscoe, Kiki

- an all pink island. Only pink flowers and pink bushes and all pink villagers

- probably an all-same-species island. Either cats or bears/cubs

- an alien abduction town island. With a crop circle, possibly spanning across the entire map if possible. Robot villagers

- Atlantis; the map would be like 80% water

- Red hyacinth island. I just really like red hyacinths

- A city island. You know, like with the highway roads that some people do, lots of street lamps and utility poles

- An island in which I take advantage of that one glitch where a villager keeps the house exterior of the villager that lived there previously - all the houses would be the same

i'm so bad at terraforming and my island is similar to the above - symmetrical and non themed LOL but if i could have multiple islands, i would definitely have more ideas. i'd like to do one cottagecore and very terraformed like the ones i see on pinterest with a crescent river, one themed after the movie big fish (a lot of water, yellow flower field, a circus area, a small kinda rickety house, etc) and a midsommar-themed one!

I have a list of ideas on my onenote app! I might even consider implementing some of them in my island maybe years down the line? Once I get bored of trying?

  • a desert island complete with cacti and an oasis in the center where all the villagers live and things are. Make it look like an ancient civilization, ruins out in the wilderness. Maybe heavy use of succulent plants. Not sure what villagers would be, hippos and crocodiles perhaps? Or I could do like American desert and have eagles. This is NOT an Egyptian theme so not Ankha or Lucky lol
  • prarie/the midwest. Minimal scattered trees. A few rustic towns. Small gardens/crops. Horses, squirrels to represent prarie dogs. A bull or two for buffalo.
  • Boondox of WW/CF fame. No trees, minimal grass, one pond and that's it for water. Dirt everything, trash/cardboard boxes everywhere, magazines and books scattered everywhere. Billy in his original house. Villagers like Rocco that have construction sites n' junk for houses. Phoebe, who tragically plucks out her own feathers to reward donators with. The representative lives far off in the distance with a decked-out mansion, gold roses all over, gushing waterfalls... The rep is Tortimer.
  • All of the continental U.S. summed up as an island. Airport is either Cali, Texas or Florida depending on where it is. The major river running through is the Mississippi river, great lakes up top, Statue of Liberty on the peninsula in the northeast, cliffs go by the mountain ranges. Bud would be Florida man (rip Flora), also orange trees. Maybe Savannah or a bear representing the South? Peaches around Georgia. A snooty or peppy in the northeast modern city thing. A normal in the prarie with grass and weeds. In Cali, uh… Fuschia? Foresty northwest with apple trees. Texas needs recognition. And ofc the desert. D.C. would have probably like Chops or Hippeaux or your player as the president. RS over there too. Cherry trees there.
  • Christmas town! Would only make sense as a dream code, but it would be SO cute. Rudy, a few penguins like Aurora/Roald/Sprinkle, Hans the yeti, maybe Shep, Goose, Beau or Fauna or Erik, Maple or Stitches? Flurry. Agnes or Reneigh or Deirdre. Maybe a bear or a wolf - Fang, Grizzly? Mountainy village full of lights and holly bushes and nostalgia. Cobblestone streets, cedars and lampposts and snowy parks, cabin/log stuff galore in the forest, the whole bit. Best time of day would probably be sunset or dusk so the lights stand out - so 6 p.m. since it's the best music. Ideally get it while it's snowing too. Why isn't there K.K. Christmas music?
  • Venice. Classic idea. Would be a little hard though since you can't use boats and you can only have front-facing buildings. Lots of white iron benches, chairs, tables etc. Lots of potted plants. Classy. Maritime references. All the bridges stone curvy ones.
  • froggy chair island

The theme I'm trying to go for at the moment is natural/cottagecore (i'm not doing it very well at the moment lmao) so if I had another island I may go for the opposite and go more 'industrial' have more structured neighbourhoods and road like paths or a gothic/spooky haunted island vibe

i also have a basically non-themed island. i think if i could have another one i would go for a cottagecore type island, as common as that is right now. i see them everywhere, but i still think how people design them are really pretty.

Right now in my animal crossing games my town themes have been largely based on seasons. My NL town was "spring" and my NH island is "summer." Next, I'd love to try a "fall" theme! :D

Man this is why this game desperately needs the dream suite. I'd love to visit all these themed towns and I think people would be more inclined to make them if people could visit them without fear of it going wrong.

I've considered doing a few themes such as 12th century medieval England, tiny world with big objects (like the borrowers), a big desert... I had a lot of ideas before the game came out too but I don't think there's enough furniture to really make a lot of what I had in mind a reality :( especially the tiny world one. All I found for that was a petal umbrella.

My current island is somewhat themed, I've got a general adventure/ruins theme going on that I'm enjoying, I like making my island fun to explore with lots of patterns and different biome areas. I've got a Celtic Forest with Stonehenge, beaches are full of Moai, a big stone rock head by a volcano in the jungle, I've tried to make Sterling's house like a ruined castle but that one is a bit of a stretch haha

I was gonna start trying to collect historical and "monster" villagers mostly because I like those the most and I think they fit the theme fairly well.

I would make a Fantasy Life themed island! I originally planned out my island to be like this, but in the end I went with a general island with no specific theme because I thought I might not be able to commit my first island to something so specific.

An all dog island, all squirrel island, fairytale island, a greek mythology island, a traditional japanese island, a farm island, a sweets/desserts themed island, an ancient egyptian inspired island, bug island, nasa/space island... so many potential ideas, and since I can't decide or commit, going to stick with my very generic island. 😅

I don’t need another Island just to have my own would be great. I’d be able to choose my own Island name and everything. Yeah that would be nice.

It'd be great to have more islands 🖤 I don't even need that many, just a few:

  • Pink/ pastel island
  • Circus/ carnival theme
  • Plushie/ toy town
  • Mono species island, probably sheep

If I could have another island I would like to make another pokemon themed island. For ACNL I made a tropical pokemon themed island with most inspiration coming from the Alola region--there were other references from other generations too. It would be fun to kind of remake this island since we are now able to place all sorts of furniture outside without being limited to 30 public work projects in ACNL! I would definitely remake areas I wasn't able to create in my ACNL file for another ACNH island since waiting for villagers to request a specific PWP is a pain... Some changes I would make with another island is getting a bigger peninsula, destroying the cliffs to decorate the rocks, and having the residential services farther away from the airport.

i could barely handle my current island so i definitely have mad respect to those who has multiple. i'd go a bit mad if i have more than one to manage. absolutely love all the ideas shared in this thread ; v ;

my current island is based off of my wallpaper (oh my, seventeen :lemon:) so there’s pastel pinks blues oranges—and in winter

> i’d love to do a fall - themed / haunted island; i’ve always been into creepypasta or horror and fall

> japan - inspired; not the most original but ig it’s a way to cope with my homesickness

> urban since i’m seeing all these cool islands

> tropical since ... it’s an island

> alice in wonderland too c: tea parties evrywhere eep <3
