So with Mario Kart 8 coming out today and having been playing SEGA All Star Racing a lot recently it got me thinking. If in a few weeks time you were to find out Nintendo were planning on making "Nintendo Racing" and that much like SEGA All Star Racing it will feature a cast of all Nintendo characters, what would be your dream line up?

Let's say a limit of 30 characters, no more than 30 but other than that the only rule is the characters have to be from Nintendo games.

I think personally I'd go with:

1) Mario (Mario)
2) Luigi (Mario)
3) Toad (Mario)
4) Princess Peach (Mario)
6) Yoshi (Mario)
7) Bowser (Mario)
8) Wario (Mario)
9) Wa Luigi (Mario) - Locked
10) Link (Legend of Zelda)
11) Princess Zelda (Legend of Zelda)
12) Ganondorf (Legend of Zelda)
13) Sheik (Legend of Zelda) - Locked
14) Fierce Deity Link (Legend of Zelda) - Locked
15) Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong)
16) Diddy Kong (Donkey Kong) - Locked
17) Captain Falcon (F-Zero)
18) Fox McCloud (Star Fox)
19) Falco (Star Fox)
20) Slippy Toad (Star Fox) - Locked
21) Peppy Hare (Star Fox) - Locked
22) Olimar (Pikmin)
23) Little Mac (Punch Out)
24) Pit (Kid Icarus)
25) Palutena (Kid Icarus) - Locked
26) Zero Suit Samus (Metroid)
27) Suited Samus (Metroid) - Locked
28) Villager (Animal Crossing)
29) Mii - Locked
30) Captain Nintendo (TV Show) - Locked

30 in all, 10 to unlock sounds a good set.

What would your dream line up be?

Omg too many from each series. Nintendo has so many more series than just Mario, Zelda and Starfox, they take more notice in their old series in Smash Bros than you did in the concept of Nintendo Racing.

Everyone in super smash bros and Poliwag would be good.
edit: and bob of course

Kirby.

Also, Zero Suit is the Samus that should be locked.
It is always locked throughout the Prime games unless you 100% scan everything.
It is also locked on the older gen games unless your hands are made of pure magic.

I think that each "main" Nintendo series (Mario, TLoZ, Kirby, Pokemon) should have 3 characters, and then the rest of the roster could be filled with characters from their less major series. I called the ones above the "main" Nintendo series because many people know about them, but if you talked about Pikmin or maybe Metroid to someone who isn't into Nintendo, they (for the most part) wouldn't know.
1. Mario, Luigi, Peach or Yoshi
2. Link, Zelda, Ganon or Impa?
3. Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight or Waddle Dee
4. Pikachu, maybe Charizard, maybe Red
The rest of the roster could have characters like Star Fox, Samus, Olimar, and Villager, and other main characters from their series such as Peppy, Falco, Zero Suit Samus, Alph/Brittany/Charlie, Isabelle, etc.
Also, there could be spots for characters of "main" series that are less notable (Waluigi, Magolor, Greninja? lol)

It's my list, the point of the thread is to make your own, share your reasons. The reason I chose what i chose is because pokemon driving karts just wouldn't look right in my personal opinion and same goes for Kirby, instead I'd have them on tracks and making cameo appearances. I personally chose so many Mario because it's Nintendo's flagship title/cast.

NO KIRBY WILL BE PERFECT!!
just give him a star-shaped kart♥

I think pikachu could have a thundercloud kart and charizard/other reps could have a pokeball kart

I know some of these characters could have personal karts but I think the game would be a lot better if it used Mario Karts system of building your own kart from parts. The thing is with Kirby and Pokemon for me personally is that they are not "human like", I mean Kirby's legs and arms wouldn't even reach the pedals and steering wheel, the same goes for Pikachu lol

I think they'd be better on maps like the idea of a Hoenn map would be great, you could have certain Pokemon starting off certain events like if someone ramps off of a snorlax's belly as he's led down on the track he could begin stomping about which would knock other players about etc

I think Nintendo would have so much to play with that it would give them amazing tracks and a great playable cast. I'm just surprised no-one else has made a list and joined in :/

It's just Kart racing fits the Mario universe a lot better, since there is modern tech in Mario, but Zelda is clearly a medieval/ fantasy world with no cars. I don't think Nintendo racing would be that great

You mean like Donkey Kong who lives in a jungle?

What technology does he have? lol

That argument of technology is pointless, I mean by that logic Mario kart shouldn't work either as there are no vehicles in the other games with the exception of the airships yet in F-Zero you have a huge number of vehicles as it's a racing game.

Nintendo Racing would work just fine and would have a lot more room for variety and creativity as it wouldn't be limited to a single game, the maps could be incredible, a race through parts of Hyrule, The Mushroom Kingdom, the F-Zero race tracks, races through Hoenn, Dream land etc

Everyone of course is entitled to their own opinion :)

Samus, Captain Falcon, and Kirby would be top tier.

Captain Falcon will win every single race.
Kirby can fly around on his warp star vehicle once he gains enough momentum with it.

You know, Nintendo Racing could turn into an hectic unbalanced (yet somehow balanced) racing game.
It'd be new!

I'd probably go with:

  • Mario in the standard Mario Kart

Peach in a fancy looking hot rod

Bowser in his flying Koopa Thingy

    Link on an Epona-shaped Motorcycle

Zelda in a kart shaped like one of the goddesses

Ganondorf in a dark-looking hot rod

Yoshi in an egg-shaped cart (similar to the one in Mario Kart DS)

    Kirby on his Warp Star

Captain Falcon on his Blue Falcon

Samus on her Starship, which is like a miniaturized hovering topless
    version

Olimar on the S.S. Dolphin, which is on its side and on wheels

King Dedede on a Wheelie Bike

Pikachu on a cart adorned with Pokeball-themed parts (Pokeball hubcaps,
    etc.)

Fox in a miniature version of his Arwing, similar to Samus and her
    starship

Chibi-Robo in a tin can cart with bottlecap wheels

Ice Climbers on an iceberg-themed cart, sitting side-by-side

    Pit on a cloud-shaped racecar

Animal Crossing Villager driving Kapp'ns' Taxi

Donkey Kong on a Banana Motorcycle

Ness driving the Mad Taxi, from Earthbound

Ray MK III on a robotic looking hot rod

Your Custom Mii on a generic looking hot rod
As for Stages:

  • Animal Crossing Village: A loop starting in front of Town Hall, going
across the river, then through the store area, then somehow
incorporating the City from City Folk in the mix.

Hyrule Field - Epona's Ranch: A simple dirt track loop. Nice and easy.

Hyrule Castle Courtyard: A ride through the gardens and the courtyard in
    the Twilight Princess Hyrule Castle.

Isle Delfino: Similar to the Mario Kart Version.

Green Greens: A nice, simple track, incorporating Whispy Woods blowing
    air around.

Corneria City Circuit: A drive around Corneria while Andross attacks

    Fire Field - F-zero circuit

Metroid Laboratory - a Dark drive through an unknown underground Metroid breeding lab

Icy Mountain - Ice Climber themed ice circuit

Forest of Hope - A Drive through the Forest of Hope, with some Pikmin enemies as hazards

Angel Land - a Large, multi-path cloud and temple based race with mainly drop hazards, with a portal into the Unerworld, and back to the start in another portal

Onett Streets - A drive through Onett, with some Earthbound enemies

Diglett Cave - A checkpoint based course, starting at Vermillion city, through the Diglett Cave, and ending in Pewter City

There's so much more I could come up with.

Oh my god, this reminds me of a thread about Animal Crossing Racing, it was so beautiful. (Granted, it was really ridiculous, but still.) We made ideas for a mission mode like Mario Kart DS with the different villagers being bosses of different worlds. E.i. Ankha being the boss of a desert world.

Anyways, as for the technology thing, I think what they're trying to say is that Mario has a modern theme where karts fit in, while Zelda is set in "medival times" where you don't really see that type of thing.
