so I really want to have a more natural/forest town that still looks landscaped and developed but I have absolutely no idea how to start. like, should I lay out a temporary path and get all major PWPs built first as a kind of starting place or ???
I've never really tried to develop a town before so I'm kind of at a loss smh
btw I don't have a dream address yet so you guys can't really see what my town looks like, but I'm really just hoping for some general tips/suggestions anyway
I'd say that yes, getting the bases like bridges/ the campsite in place as soon as you can would be a good idea.
Though if you're not going to plot reset, I'd be very careful about putting paths down until you are satisfied with all your villagers.
I know mine have an affinity for living near bridges and they can break up the synergy if you're worried about that sort of thing.
Then, go from there with various trees, bushes, and flowers you like.
I'm working on the same theme as you. First I plotted my villagers how I wanted, then put place holders for pwps that I wanted so I could work on my town while I waited for them.
For paths, I started at my plaza with cedars and bushes. Paths are natural clovers. Plant trees however you prefer. Do you want an organized look or a full out overgrown town? Do you want stumps or do you want mushrooms in areas empty? I ask myself those things that helps. I would be more than happy to invite you to my town Thursday so you can get some type of Inspiration, if it would help.
I'm doing a witch forest so maybe some of my ideas may help you. Shoot me a VM if interested
I start off with a main path that I use to walk from house to house and other places like re-tail and town hall ( The things you can't move) Then I kinda just build around it and add extra paths that I notice could work in areas. I also plant every square inch with a tree then wait a week and trim the trees that don't look right
i start with the path personally, then i start building the stuff. i try to keep in mind and know the things i want to put down, so i have a plan. if you don't have a plan, it's usually just regret and stuff, unless you're super indifferent with it and you'd be happy with whatever you put down.
As others have said start with a path if you would like but in order to make things less daunting try to develop a section of your town at a time. Don't just do like all your paths are all your bushes at once. I have seen some of the best towns when a person puts their heart into their town section by section. It can feel more natural and may come easier if you don't push things.
I also agree about doing things in sections, it just makes the process feel easier. Maybe you could split your map into quarters? Or something even smaller than that. When I did my town I did it by halves - left side first and then right. Then I placed my paths to begin with to give me an idea of where everything would go. Just breaking it down even a little can make it feel much less daunting
Yeah, I really struggle with this too, so honestly I am happy you are making all these threads because I'm still learning too. I only started playing with New Leaf, and everyone else seems to have everything figured out, lol.
ye get ya path goin boi then go from there tbh. paths are great guidelines if u wanna start landscaping, bc u can always remove them and replace them easily + if u happen to lose it or whatever its not that deep :^)
