What do you do when you start planning out another town, but don't have a way to get a copy?

Because honestly, I'm thinking of ideas for another town, like villagers, town name and pwps, but physical copies are hard to come by -I don't trust a used copy of ACNL. I might have to get a digital copy, but I like being able to switch cards between my systems.

I should have bought both of those ACNL new copies when I saw them at GameStop. :*)

I've bought a few used copies of ACNL and they've all worked and I still currently play all of them.I prefer to get them from eBay since photos of the actual cartridge and case are usually provided or from my local GameStop. One added benefit when buying a used cartridge is that the cartridge might still have a save file with the previous owner's town still intact.I've found some good stuff in those towns like a full set of Creepy furniture,a full set of gold furniture and over 20 million bells.

I just don't trust ACNL games that are used, because hacking ACNL seems easy, and with my no hack systems, I don't want a hacked game to corrupt my systems and make them unplayable. I do actually have a HHD game that was used, but the person must have wiped out the game data before selling it at the GameStop.

Have a town idea but no other town?

So, today I went to GameStop, dad wanted to buy some videogames, and while I was there I went to the Nintendo section and found a NEW ACNLWA copy there, and ofcourse I had to buy it.

I still am curious thou, what do you do when you have an idea for a new town, but don't have a way to get another copy?

I'm glad you were able to get a new copy.

I am very guilty of having too many ideas for towns. I think of new ideas all the time, but I only have 2 cartridges and I just bought the second one recently.

I pursue all of my ideas, though, even if they may never come to fruition. The planning and researching phase is fun for me and gives me a creative outlet. So, when I have a new idea, I look up villagers and pwps, browse QR codes, and come up with names and town tunes. Sometimes, it turns out my idea was too far-fetched and can't really be pulled off properly. But if it seems like it could work, I save all my planning notes and QR codes just in case I ever do get to make the town.

The hard part now is deciding which of my 3 extra ideas I want to use for my second game.

Me too, I do like the planning part of the town. I like making long lists and organizing them into catagories, like villagers, themes, colors, even down to the fruit I use.

I think what you mentioned isn't really a thing that New Leaf is capable of. I've corrupted a few saves in the past, and the worst that happens (it really feels like the worst, too  especially if it's a town you cared about. but it was really my fault) is that the game informs you of this and just wipes everything clean for a fresh start. Remember to make backups if you decide to do something stupid with technology, kids. Counts for more than just Animal Crossing

If it does load, but it's still a hacked town, the worst case scenario becomes a game crash. If that repeats, it means that the town just can't be accessed until it's normal enough to not crash the game.

But yeah there's no risk involved here, unless the seller promised a pre-made town that you really want, but it happens to be corrupted. In that case you'll end up with a blank copy of the game.

Nice that you got another copy.
In Canada EbGames(owned by Gamestops) only sells used copies now and they are rare. Like you a prefer the New Welcome Amiibo cartridge because you can import an older copy of ACNL. Good if something starts to go wrong on one of your cartridges.
Walmart and Bestbuy offer online codes only. Toys R Us doesn't have it listed anymore.

For Christmas I asked for the New Welcome Amiibo copy that I found on Amazon. The seller showed a picture with the camper on the artwork and a promise of a card.
Unwrapped it and it was the old ACNL with a small Saudi Arabia box on the cover. The artwork had Reese on it so I didn't open. It wouldn't have worked on my 3DS and I wouldn't be able to import another town.
Got lucky and it was an amazon fulfillment order. It took 3 weeks for a replacement. It had FR for French Canada and the artwork was right. The promised card was missing. Opened it and it works fine. For now I'm leaving it as a back up.

On the 2nd spare cartridge I just started a spare/casual town using my son dog and daughter cat names. For now I'm using for growing weeds but plan on making it a dog/cat town. I'll keep it but will erase it if one of my old favorite ACNL cartridge have problems.

Digital isn't an option. I have one on each 3DS.

Nimbas1103 yeah I haven't heard of games corrupting systems, but I am always wary with Nintendo games. With Xbox, not so much because everythin saves on the console, not the CD. But because with Nintendo games it saves in the cartridge or CD -for the Wii- data transfers and so do hacks, I assume. If suppose if the game was unplayable, I could do a full wipe from the title screen.

stitchmaker I'm surprised Canada still has Toys R Us's, last I knew they were going bankrupt in the United States. Also that's so messed up what happened with your amazon ACNL, you would think a reputable deliverer like Amazon wouldn't let stuff like that happen.

Yes I was surprised and thought Toys R Us would close. Read that the stores do well in Canada.
I've only gone in to buy store exclusives. The animal crossing backpack buddies appeared in the store after the US stores closed. Before we got none.
We lost Target because Canada didn't shop there. Target and EbGames are my favorite places to buy game/amiibos.

Wow Target is still going on string down here, I don't see it closing anytime soon.

What are backpack buddies thou?

People buy pre-made, hacked towns?

Probably. It was more of a hypothetical situation where I could understand being wary. It was just to drive home the point that the worst case scenario is an empty save game, which is probably what you'll be after when buying a used copy.

I just remembered, you could probably even delete the save game in the system settings before starting it up if you *really* don't want your 3ds exposed to other towns.
