Idea for NEW villagers

So I've seen a lot of threads about villagers by those of us who do and don't want them.

I want them, and no I don't think there will be some sacrifice with the old villagers. Amiibos were confirmed to work, and I'm pretty sure it means ALL amiibo cards will function. Besides if the 3DS can handle 800+ pokemon all with UNIQUE models, unlike animal crossing where everyone's a recolor with SOME villagers having unique pieces added to the model, I think the switch can handle it better.

So whats my idea?

While I'd like new species, what I'd like first is

ADD A VILLAGER FOR EACH PERSONALITY PER EXISTING SPECIES FIRST

There's 25 cats and not a single one is smug! There's no reason for that!

I think by doing this, people who want themed towns of certain species but want all the personalities can finally get that goal. PLUS it would add to smaller groups of animals like octopi and hippos!

So I made a list of all missing personalities per animal.

Note: I'm not including Sanrio/Amiibo figurine locked villagers, as they can not be adopted and require money to obtain.

Alligators: Peppy, Smug, Uchi
Anteater: Lazy, Uchi
Bear: Normal
Bird: Uchi
Bull: Smug
Cat: Smug
Chicken: Peppy (technically there is one, but she hasn't been around since E+)
Cow: Uchi
Cub: Smug
Deer: Peppy
Dog: None at least one of each appeared in NL.
Duck: Cranky, Uchi
Eagle: Peppy, Lazy, Uchi
Elephant: Cranky, Peppy, Uchi, Smug
Frog: None at least one of each appeared in NL.
Goat: Peppy
Gorilla: Normal
Hamster: Uchi
Hippo: Uchi
Horse: Uchi
Kangaroo: Jock, Lazy, Smug
Koala: Peppy (technically there is one, but she hasn't been around since E+)
Lion: Perhaps they could add a lioness or female lions. After all they introduced male kangaroos in NL, there's cow, and female deer. This would mean peppy, snooty, normal, and uchi for lions.
Monkey: Smug
Mouse: Uchi
Octopus: Jock, Smug, Peppy, Snoot, Uchi
Ostrich: Cranky
Penguin: None at least one of each appeared in NL.
Pig: None at least one of each appeared in NL.
Rabbit: None at least one of each appeared in NL.
Rhino: Smug, Snooty, Peppy (Note: Snooty, and Peppy rhinos exist, but have not appeared since E+)
Sheep: Lazy, Jock, Cranky (Note: Lazy and Jock sheep exist, but have not appeared since E+)
Squirrel:None at least one of each appeared in NL.
Wolf: Lazy, Jock, Peppy, Uchi (Note: A jock wolf does exist, but has not appeared since E+)

Of course I'm not saying ALL of these need to be in New Horizons, I just think it would be nice if we eventually got at least one of each personality type per animal.

Also I'm surprised there's one of each pig and penguin but not of cats. Those two seem to be far less popular lol.

Octopus: Jock, Smug, Peppy, Snoot, Normal

There is a Normal Octopus. Her name is Marina, and she's the only female octopus. The other two are Octavian and Zucker, who are Cranky and Lazy respectively.
Aside from that, I completely agree with these ideas. I especially love the concept of more Cranky villagers, as that's actually one of my favorite personality types! Probably not the most common thing, but ever since Wild World I've loved Cranky Villagers. Anyway... I agree. I heard somewhere that, as of now, there are no new villager personality types in New Horizons, so adding villagers like this is a great idea!

so many cats but missed the opportunity to make at least one of them a smug? May should add one more
cat and give him that missing personality just for the sake of it.

What I would like to see is a uchi hippo and wolf, as I'm curious of how their design would looks like. A
lazy sheep would be also pretty nice.

I plan to, but ATM, I’m on mobile, so when I get off it, I’ll post it here, since it’s relatively the same idea, it’s quite long (like a page or so, going into simple detail of why some personalities wouldn’t work with each other)

I agree! Cats are one of my favorite animals in the game and I always make sure that my town has all the personalities, but since like you said and there is no smug personality cat villager, I couldn't make my dream come true. It's always interesting to see towns with all the same animal, but since some animal types lack all the personalities, it's kinda hard to do that. We definitely need at least one of every personality type with every animal species.

Right? Like I wouldn't even be mad if they swapped/changed personalities. I mean Dobie went from lazy to cranky (getting rid of our ONLY lazy wolf) and Plucky went from peppy to uchi (getting rid of the only peppy chicken that woulda made it to NL). Tbh Punchy looks like he could easily be smug. Or like you said just add one single cat to NH.

I'd also love seeing an uchi hippo and wolf tbh. Or a snooty octopus she'd be cool.

Simply put, what I mean by this is that not all animals have all personality types (1 won't make sense as I explain at the end as to why)

The current animal species that don't have all type are:

[Chicken: Missing a Peppy type] Leigh is one, but is restricted to the GC era for…obvious reasons
[Cow: Missing an Uchi type] Carrot can be this (majority of these cows left In GC era)
[Deer: Missing a Peppy type] No current villager fits this (new species introduced in NL)
[Gorilla: Missing a Normal type] No current villager fits this
[Horse: Missing an Uchi type] No current villager fits this
[Koala: Missing a Peppy type] Faith can be this
[Monkey: Missing a smug type] No current villager fits this
[Ostrich: Missing a Cranky type] No current villager fits this
[Bird, Hamster, and Mouse missing Uchi type] No current villager fits this

I didn't add certain animal personalities, example are bulls because usually, they don't have the female equivalent of this as bulls....are well totally male (it be weird to see a bull with a peppy personality, i mean they do have a female counter part being cows... but we're talking personality wise here)

Some of these types can be filled in by older AC villagers but some won’t be filled

The first thing they should do is bringing back those villagers from the E+ game. I didn't even knew that a
jock wolf and lazy sheep already existed until I read about it here. I just searched for them on Google and
gosh are they adorable. Especially Tarou (the jock wolf) is that kind of villager I would love to have in my
town. Honestly, I don't need entirely new villagers, bringing back all villagers that never made it into Wild
World and beyond would be something I would prefer more and it would be also a nice step into the right
direction to give these villagers a chance to get attention in a new game after all these years where they
got forgotten.

I want a peppy deer so much ;-; I really hope we don't lose any existing villagers though! The more options the better~

I would much rather see them balance out the personalities per species than throw us a bunch of random new villagers of the same species and personalities we already have. This is a great idea, and although new villagers are a great addition no matter what, improving upon this would really flush out the villager pool and make a lot of them seem less like copy and pastes of each other. Also bringing back old villagers that we haven't seen in awhile should be a higher priority than cranking out a bunch of new ones imo. It'd be great them in the new graphics after not seeing them since like. 2002 lol.

Bats, sharks, any water creature are not apealing ideas to me. I could see them adding puffin villagers though.

There is a jock octopus villager, Inkwell. He's an amiibo villager which you get from the Splatoon inkling girl, inkling boy or, inkling squid amiibo. I have him in my town. He is such a sweetheart! <3
