Idea: Buying medals with bells

Yikes! Why so defensive? I think Spooky was just observing that you're replying to countering opinions with quite the callous tone, rather than a way that promotes further discussion. You're just kind of shutting anyone down who doesn't think it's as good an idea as you do. A good discussion requires you to be receptive of other people's thoughts.

Nobody said it was the worst idea on the planet, either, nor is it the 'only argument that matters'. Little bit dramatic, don't you think?

I guess the part where I posted that I'm smart enough to not make a thread asking people's opinion if I didn't want to hear other people's opinions was totally ignored here. That the one thing that sucks about trying to have a serious discussion or debate online. People can come off as callous or defensive when they are counter arguing. And it does seem like the only one that matters since it's only one that everyone who doesn't think this is a good idea keeps bringing up. And I'm countering with why should medals be the only thing you earn when you can just buy everything else, and people are countering with because medals are earned, and I'm countering again with the same argument. If I didn't want to hear people's arguments against and idea of mine, again, I'm smart enough not to have opened up a discussion about and I sure as heck wouldn't continue posting in the thread if I didn't want to hear people's opinions. I'm genuine curiously about people opinions on this (whether they agree with me or not) and wasn't my intention to sound defensive or callous, I apologize if I sounded that way.

I do admit, I did get a bit dramatic about that 'worst idea' part. I apologize for that as well. Now that I think about it, this probably wasn't a good idea. LOL

That the one thing that sucks about trying to have a serious discussion or debate online. People can come off as callous or defensive when they are counter arguing. And it does seem like the only one that matters since it's only one that everyone who doesn't think this is a good idea keeps bringing up. There are some things bells can't buy. For everything else, there's Master--Medals.

I feel like if bells could be used to buy medal exclusive items, the island would practically be a ghost town.

Uh, you can buy medal exclusive items from other people on here with both in game bells and TBT. You can't buy them with your OWN bells but you can use your bells to buy them from other people. And I laughed at that first part. That was good.

No one is judging me. I guess my post just made me sound defensive, when that really was NOT my intention. And thank you, I thought it was a good post too until I saw that it probably wasn't. I think I'm going stick with my random posts about a whole lot of nothing.

I"m still interested in people's opinions on this. So let 'em fly.

Oh I know people can use tbt or any forum, but there's more folks who don't frequent or even use AC forums. So I just think if it was implemented less people would be inclined to even go to the island. And it'd be sad to see CT so barren every time I would hop on by.

I barely ever go to the island anyways, I only went today because I felt like it, little did i know there were going to be two Mermaid themed items, and tours that were the worst ever. And people are creepy on CT sometimes. Someone back on Halloween was dressed like Frankenstein and was hanging out behind Leilani, not moving. But I digress.

I could always buy the Mermaid stuff on here because it's possible to do that, but why buy when I can just put myself through living bug heck by grinding through the same tour over and over again.

If they had the scavenger tour or the Hide n Seek tour, this thread wouldn't have existed today.

Ya I feel like Nintendo thought the island tours are a lot more fun than they actually are. Making all the island stuff only purchasable with medals was probably just a way to encourage people to play together on the island and use Club Tortimer, as Nintendo is pretty big on stuff like that.
Being able to buy medals for bells sounds like a neat idea, not one I probably would have used personally as I don't mind grinding for medals all that much (I still have like 600 from a grinding marathon a year or two ago lol), my only major are gripes are 1) only one piece of furniture on the island a day like?? come on. and 2) no option to end tours early!! In most cases I can meet the criteria to get max medals with a few minutes to spare so I just have to leave my game sitting there waiting for the tour to time out, it's lame.

I'm jealous of the people who can sit and grind through these tours. Curse my impatience. That's main reason I want to buy bells, because I'm impatient.
And yeah makes sense they want people to play together, which is cool and all, but not everyone is big on multiplayer. And the way WiFi cuts off and errors constantly makes me put offish with the online features. I have no problems playing with others via CT, but again, the broken wifi (which could just be my WiFi to 3DS connection) makes me not want to play online for a long period of time. And grinding medals can take a long time

I wouldn't mind tours if we got to choose which tours we did instead of them being randomize. Technically, we do choose which tours to do but it's from a random list from Nintendo
