This is the tiniest little problem in my life, but I'm going to address it anyway - this is by no means a call for insane localisation, although events such St. Georges Day and Guy Fawkes aren't mentioned in the game at all, that doesn't bother me too much, as next to no games add them in. My problem is this: British English and American English should be registered as different languages, and so the European version, which contains copies shipped to the UK and Ireland, should have a few tweaks on the speech so that us Brits aren't confused when the HHA talks about our "first floor", when for us it's our "ground floor", or when a jock villager asks us what position we would play on a "soccer" team, when they mean "american football". Also, the lack of the 'u' in words really annoys me, as words that drop it are used so much throughout the game; neighbour, colour, or the switching of -re and -er, which is less common in the game but still comes up in words such as metre and centre, or even the dropping of the 'ue' in words such as catalogue or analogue. I know this is the tiniest thing picked up by one person, but as dialogue and the European events in this game are so weak already, could they not have spent a few days with their localisation of the game, and finally use the correct spellings for the UK and add in a few cultural events, instead of chucking in the old dialogue, removing a few American events and moving on? Meh, whatever.
If you have any thoughts on this topic, whether you think it's stupid to have, essentially, a version for Europe with improved localisation, or if you support the idea of more events and the British spelling for British people, do share them with me.
