i wish that villagers would comment on past villagers

i know it might be a complicated thing to programme but if a villager can remember their old town's town tune surely they can remember a villager from the 16-cycle
it's just dumb how they're all like 'oh no!!! i heard _____ is thinking of moving!!! mayor you gotta stop them!!!' and then as soon as _____ actually does move out they're like haha let's never mention them again

it'd be neat if they sometimes talked about past villagers, like 'i wonder where ____ is now' or 'i got a letter from _____ last week!' or 'i hope ______ has made friends in their new town!!'

it's irritating when they talk about people who have come to visit from other towns too, but that's one of the charms of the game i guess, it's not always plain sailin

To be honest I would settle for any increased amount of dialogue options. It seemed at first that the variety was quite good but lately it's seemed so ridiculously repetitive.

Yeah, if they talk about other people (OTHER PEOPLE) who have visited your town (and you find it irritating) just imagine what it would be like if 1/10 conversations you'd have with a villager would be about past ones.

I'd like something like that. Sometimes it does feel a little sad how once a villager moves away it is like they are forgotten about by the others.

I have a second character for patterns and I use their house as a sort of gallery for the villagers that have moved away. If they sent me their picture I put them in a glass case in there and I guess that is my way of paying tribute and not letting their presence be forgotten. It ended up looking more like a memorial but sometimes it is nice to go in there and be reminded of them.

(My museum exhibits are all full so that's why I didn't just use one of those. Plus having this in the town itself feels more personal)

i just think it would be cute because clyde and ankha are best friends in my town (they always talk about each other, send each other gifts, go to each other's birthdays and are in each other's houses) and the same with diana and pekoe, and if one of either pair ever moved out it would just be nice to see their best friend missing them
IDK obviously it has flaws but it'd be cute

I love that idea! I think it would be nice if you had an option where a villager would say something like, "Oh, I just got a letter from so-and-so last week. Do you want to hear about it?" and if you say, "Yes," current villagers would bring up all those dialogues you suggested and continue to do so, but if it's a villager you don't want to hear about, they won't bring up the villager again.

On a somewhat related note, I also wish that the history that plays when you sit by your town tree also includes past villagers. I don't even think the dates when past villagers moved in are there anymore when they move out, which is kind of sad.

yes me too!!!! i took a long hiatus from animal crossing last year and now there's a few villagers in my main street who i never got the chance to meet, and i can't check in on when they moved in because they're not in the history!
i guess it would interfere with the 16 villager cycle :-(
