I've kept Marshal's house pretty much untouched. One of the villagers gifted him an umbrella, which isn't what I wanted, but it also doesn't look out of place, so whatever. Anyway, from time to time his coffee grinder or record player will vanish when I visit. Not before my eyes, but just randomly be gone at times. Sometimes a record player will show up or the coffee grinder will show up. Then his espresso maker vanishes, and so does the coffee pot or whatever that item is called. It's the silver thing in the far right corner on his table. I wish these things would stop randomly changing.🤷‍♂️

It really isn't a glitch. Some furniture really disappears, some are replaced by other things, then some items are turned. I swear the paper tiger in Rolf's house kept facing a different direction every day.

I don't think it's a glitch?

I think it's just your villager rearranging their furniture based on what's in their inventory from time to time, the same way player characters do. I gifted Kiki some cat grass on her birthday and it's usually out on her kitchenette -- sometimes centered and replacing her radio, sometimes side by side with the radio; I don't really mind either way. It's kind of nice to feel like the villagers have an inkling of autonomy.

I don't like it. I think the paper tiger is an actual cat.

Good to know. It just worries me sometimes.

@Rosch
Omg if you documented that, that'd be so great to see. It's haunted, lol. 😂

Now I want to see if any of my villagers are doing the same with their interiors.

The day after Raymond moved in (I bought him from someone), I noticed some of his furniture was missing. I got worried and posted in the faq thread. I found out that apparently they sometimes rotate out some of their furniture. I did give him a few workbenches before I started doing the coconut trick. One of the times he ran up to me, he had a mug. i closed the game afraid he was giving me the one from his house. I still am nervous whenever he runs up to me. I think i did end up getting a mug from him but thankfully it was mot The mug from his desk. The rotation of his furniture really made me anxious (it still does); I bought a desktop computer and everything else that I saw going missing, but found them back the next day and a different item missing. I really wish he’d keep them all out and not rotate them :(

Coconut trick? I also don't like that they rotate stuff. If it were possible to rearrange their furniture to your liking, I wouldn't care what they do with their house. Marshal gave me his coffee grinder one day and I didn't want it. For some reason I didn't bother resetting before the game saved, either. I had noticed that he had a record player in place of where the coffee grinder used to be. I found out that he does have a record player in his house, so that wasn't bad. I gave him his coffee grinder back a couple days after and hoped that he wouldn't put it in a spot that's out of place. He ended up putting the coffee grinder back where the record player was, but sometimes both show up next to each other. As for the other stuff in his house, he's never given me anything. I agree with you on when they run up to you. Now I'm always worried when they do.

he's my villager that moves stuff around the most! his interior is probably different every time I see him, with the desktop facing the wall sometimes, or the fax machine on top of the safe. But it's kind of fun so I like to gift him random office-ish furniture and see where he decides to put them. But I think its mostly the table-top items that change - I gave him an anatomical model a few months ago and its always stayed in the same place.

Meanwhile I caught 2 bugs for Fauna in the beginning before I knew that they put them in their houses, and she never replaces them =( They're on either side of the front door and make me regret my choices every time I enter her house 😅 one of these days I'm going to gift her a million books and bookstands so that she can replace them already

Oh sorry. it’s the method to get the villagers’ pics :) That is why I was nervous to even try to give him back what looked like was missing.

Thank you for sharing this with me. :) This actually helps relieve me some of my anxiety. I spent a lot for him (my choice) and since he has no amiibo card and because the person that let me buy him seemed really fond of him, it would’ve made me feel so awful if I had somehow done something to make him do this.

Oh man that’s a bummer about Fauna. Same happened with me with Merry, though with only one fish. I had her amiibo card and was able to boot her and reinvite her. If you ever want her original house, let me know. I can use her amiibo card and get her in boxes for you :). Right now my slots are full though. I’m still working on getting pics from my two temporaries.

I don't know if it's true or not, but I read somewhere before that if you give a villager the same colored item that they originally have in their house, they'll put it in the right spot or something. I think furniture has specific areas they're placed in, though, so I don't know how true this is.

I read that as well. The guide I read and the site that shows what objects are in the villager’s house was kinda complicated (at least it was to me). I really wanted to avoid having to try that if at all possible.

Me too. I have that site bookmarked.

thanks so much, that's really kind of you! But I've had her since April so I'm pretty attached to her, and I think if I give her enough tabletop items she'll get rid of the bugs for good! So that gives me another task to add to my dailies

Yeah they move stuff, I found this out as fauna would have the frog I gave her in a different spot every time I visited. Really thought she was messing with me xD

I think some of my villagers only have their crafting table out when they are crafting.
That's normal. It might be an eyesore if they left it out in there house. 😄

So weird that it would be in a different spot each time. I guess whatever they originally have in their house just remains in a specific spot or is put away.
