I think my ‘Cast Master’ reward is bugged?

Edit: okay, I looked outside the forum (cause I did check the forum before posting) but weirdly I didn’t think to google) and there are other people saying the same thing, a lot of the time people just say ‘oh, you obviously haven’t gone past your highest streak’ but there are enough people reporting this experience for it to be more than bad counting so it’s not just me.

Hey guys! So I got the first Cast Master stamp on my scond day in the game, which is fine, then at some point shortly after that I lost a fish at 33. And ever since then my Cast Master counter has been stuck on 33. I figured it stayed on the highest number you reached and maybe I just hadn’t gone over that (though a few times I was sure I had). But with the Fishing Tourney yesterday I kept careful track of how many rounds I played without losing a fish and how many fish per round and I’ve definitely gone over 50 now and it’s still stuck at 33. So 2 questions, 1) Should it reset back to 1 when I lose a fish or does it stay at your ‘hight score’? And 2, does pressing A before the bobber sinks and losing the fish that way break your streak? (Just wondering, I still should have a streak of over 33 either way). Like, I don’t want to keep obsessing over this if it’s just broken on my game, I’d rather know than keep trying to get the reward if it’s glitched. Anyone else had problems?

It should stay at the highest number caught until you pass it again, I'm not sure if the ones you catch in the fishing tourney count.

It resets back to 0. You have to get them all in a row and if you mess up it puts you back at 0 but just shows your highest amount of catches in a row until you get back to that point.

2) does pressing A before the bobber sinks and losing the fish that way break your streak?

When a fish looks at your bobber then that's when you have to catch it or else it'll count as a miss. If it runs away from your bobber it counts as a miss.

Can't say much for the fishing tourney because I tried to get the achievement before the fishing tourney.

It resets back to 0. You have to get them all in a row and if you mess up it puts you back at 0 but just shows your highest amount of catches in a row until you get back to that point.

When a fish looks at your bobber then that's when you have to catch it or else it'll count as a miss. If it runs away from your bobber it counts as a miss.

I don't know if they changed it in an update, but before I got to 100 it did not reset back to 0. I remember getting to like 84 or something and once I lost it, it stayed at 84 until I passed it.

Edit: nvm I misread your post, my bad!

The counter goes back to 0 but the Nook Mile tracker stays at whatever your highest score is.

Wait, really? Not doubting you, but do you have a source for that? That’s almost certainly the issue I’m having then. I did read of people whose streaks got stuck at 9/10 and stuff which sounds like a glitch for sure, because you could reel in 15 fish in 5 mins without moving and know if you had a glitch or not so easily. Whereas I’m not sure about mine and I definitely wasn’t paying attention to fish when I wasn’t actively fishing and I do scare them a lot! This explains so much! Oops.

Yes it does.

For me this wasn't the case as I ran off a lot of fish and still had the counter increase.

Huh strange then, cause I got to 98 and accidentally scared off 99, and my streak broke.
