To fix it, I went to my sister's town who had Katrina, and wore the thing she told me to wear. Then the tripping just disappeared lol

You can talk to her again everyday, you'd just have to find someone that has her in their town!

I keep tripping over as well, I don't have Katrina in my town the last two times she's been in town by the time I've realized her tents been closed >_<

There's a luck feature in this game and when you have bad luck your going to trip. You use Katrina to get good luck or neutralize your bad luck. Which is probably why you would want to get her store ASAP.

Also, you could just stop running.

Yeah. According to Katrina, I have to find a puffy hat, or I'm headed for what you've been going through.
Though, I've tried to limit my running, as of late. So, hopefully I won't be tripping all over the place.
I've ruined some hybrids tripping onto them.

If you wear Katrina's lucky hats , you will never trip.. the Celebration hat or the Tingle hood. Katrina has to sell them to you for 10k in her shop the first time but after that it's reorderable from Nooks for very little. They negate bad luck days.

Can't you also get a luck forecast from the lovely phone or something? Mine's perpetually in storage so I haven't tried it but if it works, it might be helpful if you don't have Katrina in your town yet.

I usually just deal with the tripping or walk. It's annoying, but it goes away eventually.
