I was holding my net and running around looking for pieces of Wisp's spirit when I noticed Rolf had a thought bubble... I went over and the net accidentally hit him. I thought it was because I was running so pressed A again when my character stopped but it just hit him again! After that he immediately dropped the thought bubble and pulled out a popscicle... Just seemed so strange!
I... Slapped away Rolf's thought bubble?

Yeah, I’ve done that to my villagers several times. Either that, or I’ve walked into a building just as they called out my name. Nowadays I just put my net away before interacting with any villagers if I want to know what they’re thinking

lol yes unfortunately, this has been a thing with the game (it's not a new occurrence) if you're holding a net and a villager has a thought bubble or is running up to you calling you, one smack with an accidental a button smash can rid of the bubble/whatever they wanted to talk to you about. un-equipping your net and trying to talk to them again won't bring up what the originally pinged you for.

yeah has happened to me several times, really is annoying that it will do that and you never know what you missed because of it. will also cancel when they run up to you excitedly :/

I've tried to always be running into them to start a conversation, pushing them a little, and most of the time it works. Not all of the time though. (I've actually hit some of them twice trying to do this.
) Now I'm trying to get into the habit of un-equipping my net each time but, yeah, I forget and end up smacking someone.
