This is just a idea based on the pictures of the cranky villagers: maybe someday the cranky villagers get worried that you may have not gotten a letter from your mum in a while and decide to send you one and fill in the role of being your parent until a real letter from your mum arrives

I, like everyone else, really love this game too! Every once in a while (I did this last night, in fact) I like to walk around my town. I talk to almost any villager that I see and I just admire the good parts of towns and try to figure out why other parts seem weird or akward. In Sapphire, there's less and less 'weird' parts of town. Then usually I go swimming in the ocean and listen to the calming night music and look at the sky. This game, with all its weird parts, is truly one of the most beautiful and intricately thought out games that I've ever seen.

I do love this game! Its the only one i come back to time and again, even if i do take breaks. When a new version comes out i play it constantly. To the point where i can hear the music even when i dont play, lol.
