OMG, THIS.

I only just started playing ACNL since this past October (just a week before Halloween) and I've been obsessed with it ever since. It's addicting as it is beautiful. Being accompanied by an array of sweet, cute, lovable anthropomorphic animal villagers and caring for them is somehow fun and relaxing! I love simulations and strategy (base building and resource gathering) so this is like the best of both worlds).

I find myself googling and using tumblr to search up images and fan art of the villagers, and hence now here on the forums as well, looking for screenshots, other people town maps and villagers and the such. I love AC!!

OMG, THIS.

Oh that was the most lovely description ever!! Fan art is so powerful, there are some villagers I never even wanted until I saw fan art of them. x3 It's absolutely such a beautiful and relaxing game!! It may sound crazy... but when I'm feeling lonely or sad I play it and it perks me right up. Forever alone, I know. But worth it all the same.

It makes me happy and sad to see how far my village has come. Happy because of all of the hard work I have put into my town and all the good memories I have made through out, and sad because seeing all of my old villagers make me remember how much people come and go in my village.

No no you worded perfectly how I felt going through all of my pictures to find this! It's like sitting on the tree in your plaza. ^w^ I feel the very same nostalgia. And sometimes I wonder if the villagers who have stuck with me since the beginning (Shep/Papi/Mac) feel the same? I know that sounds absolutely crazy but I'll admit I'm guilty of imagining up little lives for each of them.

Oh my thank you so much for that comment. <3 Yes the villagers do such a wonderful job of cheering you up! I swear.. the cranky villagers are like the doting fathers, the jocks are the big brothers, and the smug villagers are the overly worried boyfriends hehe. I love this game with everything in me truly~

I completely agree with you. There were times when some of my villagers legit almost made me cry with how cute the stuff they were saying was. Their positivity always cheers me up when I feel sad. This game is amazing.

I'm glad they can cheer you up! As ironic as it sounds, I usually talk with a cranky villager after a long day. They're always so warm and caring to me. I feel like they really care.

I completely agree that it's all the little things that make it so much better... and sometimes the letters the animals write to you can really hit you with some emotions! Take this letter Shep sent to me... it says:

My heart yearns with every sunset. It's as if the sun and I have broken hearts together. My love was so pure, but now it's over before it ever had a chance to really begin. -The lonely Shep

Earlier in the cafe he was having coffee and said to me, "The dim skyline you see after the sun sets over the horizon's edge is a time called 'the magic hour.' It's my dream to take a picture of my future wife in the soft, beautiful light of the magic hour."

I was so speechless that I actually I teared up.. I teared up and nearly cried over pixels! :,3

The cranky and lazy villagers are my favorite (They are both my personality type lol) both of them always have such nice stuff to say, I remember Ankha made me really happy but sadly she didn't tell me when she was wanting to move and she moved out. I really miss her but it's okay!! The game is just so amazing with all its different aspects honestly.

I've only started to play ACNL since last October, but it's that one game that I can't stop playing at all. Call me pathetic, but I feel so close to these animals almost to a point where I would consider them my friends. I've never had many IRL friends in all of my life, mainly because I struggle with a lot of social problems. Whenever I feel like I'm at my worst, I would always pick this game up and check on how my villagers are going. I love all of the villagers I ever had, but the one I love the most is Antonio. He would always say something that'll make me laugh or would encourage me to never give up. He will always be my favourite because of this.

Thank you so much for making such a heartwarming thread. All of your images made me smile and has reminded me of how much I love ACNL. <3

for me, animal crossing new leaf is really beautiful - i was so used to cartoony wii, ds and gc that i didn't even imagine the possibilities of this game
i love the new dialogues, with more varied ones than on the wii, and adore the beach and swimming ♥

OMG, so much yes! No one understands how I can still play this game on a daily basis almost three years later, but it's just so wonderful. I love all of my villagers. Love how sweet the normies are, how protective the uchis can be, the flirty nature of smugs and just ahhh! Everything.

I also deal with depression and anxiety and this game is an absolute godsend. My villagers can always make me smile and cheer me up even on my worst days.

This game is the one belonging I've made certain to take with me on all my moves across country. It's like having a safe bubble that I can keep in my purse so I completely agree with you. ^^
