I've only had New Leaf for a week so I'm new to the game and definitely new to the island. I love it so much because I'm making over 200,000 bells in one trip o-o I scare off the normal stags and the small fish so that the rare bugs and sharks will spawn.

How much is the most you've made from one trip to the island?

I made 500,000 bells once but I have a tip: don't keep Goliath beetles and and ocean sunfish, they're worth the least

meh i still keep the goliath beetles.
the 6k is still pretty worth in my opinion LOL, so I'd rather just sell them and then make another trip back.

but i totally understand what you mean haha. sometimes when i run out of space in the basket, goliath beetles are always the ones i leave behind!

The most I've made was around 400k, but it takes way too long for me. I eventually got annoyed and traded tbt for igb lmao.

The best way to catch as many valuable bugs as fast as possible is to chop down all of your non-palm trees and chop down any palms on the southern part of your island so that you can get a good look at the front of all of your trees. You can also get rid of all of the flowers on the island to prevent butterflies from spawning since they are not worth as much. If you are really ambitious, you can gather sea shells at the center of your island each day and then when you have enough to cover the entire shoreline, do it and you will prevent hermit crabs from spawning. Then, all that will spawn are rare beetles, wharf roaches, and tiger beetles. The roaches and tiger beetles can be scared off by running near them to help spawn more palm tree beetles. I can get about 400,000 bells in a half hour by beetle hunting this way.

400k was the most I made from one trip. When I can be bothered to take multiple trips in one night I can make about 2mil. I think once you've caught all the bugs and donated them, you can just chop down all the trees, dig up stumps, bushes and flowers to increase the amount of bugs that spawn. If not, you can catch a rainbow stag worth about 10,000 bells.

I've gotten...maybe a million from the island?

But I did the Lazy camper trick to get that million. Caught a bunch of beetles and sharks and then played the guess the fruit game when I had a lazy camper. Made some good bells with that.

Turnips can be way better, but it's risky business. So I just use the island and trading TBT for IGB.
