So I have some villagers, but I dont know if I should go with a theme, or what villagers match mine.
I currently have 9, one is moving out though. The list is
Boone,
Eugene,
Eunice,
Wendy,
Julian,
Purrl,
Maple(moving out),
Ribbot,
and Beau.

Should I go with a theme? I mean, I am bad at picking dreamies, I just recently got Clay, but he is in a cycler town. So should I go with a theme? Or a specific species of animal? What did you do to pick yours?

I basically just went down the list of all the villagers and made a list of all the ones I liked then narrowed it town to my top favorites.

I probably wouldn't go with a single species town if this is the only non-cycling town you have.I think it's better to experience different species and personality types at first. And you might hold off on doing a theme unless you're really certain of which direction you want to go.With my first NL town.I stayed with the same group of villagers long enough to figure out which ones I wanted to keep and which ones I would let move out.I then visited a lot of dream towns to experience more villagers and decide which ones I wanted to get to replace my move-outs.I also remembered which villagers from my old Gamecube town that I really liked and wanted again in New Leaf.

If you wanted to you could probably go for a cutesy theme with having Julian, Beau and Purrl- although I think you should choose villagers that you like because even if they don't seem to match it all will probably fall in place. I picked my favorites from the random move ins and a few from my past game (Stitches and Lucky) or have villagers that remind you of something you like!

Just go with your favorites :) That's what I do! I don't really like the "one species" idea, as you may not like all of the characters of that species.

You should pick something you love and roll with it. Don't worry about what anyone on this forum says. If there's a villager that you love, find a way to put them in your town, regardless of theme or the villagers popularity and let your town speak for itself.

Agreed on the last one, I wouldn't worry on theme if you put what you like it becomes your own unique theme. I personally like sheep and Wendy and Eunice are great but again don't listen to me take the time talk to them find the one who just doesn't click with you.
