question- ive marked ppl ive added by friend code as best friends, but they still dont appear as best friends in game? Do i have to visit their island first? Or do they have to also mark me as a bestie?

You need to have them visit your island or visit theirs. Either by local play or dodo code.
You need to message them on here and get a dodo code and then once youve played together you send them a request via nook phone while they are on your island
