I must have missed the memo on bottled DIYs no longer appearing every time I visit a mystery island. As well as, a fossil appearing on every visit as well. Was this changed in the last patch? I do not recall reading patch notes for these particular changes.

Hmm, I don't grind islands as much as some. But I never got a bottle every island even at the start nor a fossil every time.

i don’t think it was patched - i just think it was always random. prior to the last patch/update, i didn’t get a diy or fossil on every tour i went on, either

hm? i never got a bottle every single time i went to an island. i went island hopping a ton after the patch, and i still have found them as frequently as ever, though. fossils also haven't always spawned every island either, in my experience.

I probably did the most islands on my second town and I hadn't collected the bottle on my beach several times at the start of running them...still didn't get a bottle/fossil each time?

It's definitely not every island that gives you a fossil or a DIY. In my experience, I don't get a fossil or a DIY even half the time. Usually a quarter of the time, if I had to make an estimate.

I ran through 10 mystery islands earlier today and got 4 DYI bottles.. It's random and they do not appear on every one, at least not for me....

i don't think so - i collect my bottle every day and i've found them on mystery tours.

Just from doing around the 600+ mark of NMTs, on average it seems like you find a DIY bottle maybe 1/3 of the time or slightly higher. I stopped paying attention to fossils on islands after I completed the set, so not really sure on that frequency.

I've done 300+ random islands and the bottles show up randomly. I'm finished with my fossils so I never paid attention to that portion but it may be random as well. It's been like this since the start of the game for me lol.

I ran a lot of Mystery Islands early on, and bottles did not appear on every island.

From my observations...

Bottles occasionally appear. Maybe around half the time.

1 Fossil rarely appears.

1 Wasp and 1 tree Furniture always appears, unless there are no regular trees.

Odd. I must not have been paying real good attention then. I just remember when I went to mystery islands for the first week or two since release, seemed like every time.

Additionally I would like to add,

First time I had Celeste on my Island, I was able to wish on 150 stars in one night. Now I am lucky to see 5 on any given night.

When I first did mystery islands it seemed like I was getting a DIY bottle every time and assumed that's how it was, and when I did my next island run was very confused on running into an island with no bottle. Since then I've seemed to get bottles a bit less than half the time. However, I haven't run many tours compared to a lot of people here (maybe 50 in total) and usually not more than 10 in a row, so maybe that's why it took me a long time to notice this?

As for the stars, I know the answer to that! Shooting stars are not the same as a meteor shower. You can have Celeste on your island & shooting stars without it being a meteor shower, you will just get the occasional star. For a meteor shower, Isabelle will announce it and there will be near constant stars. I've had 1 meteor shower on my island naturally and got over 100 wishes easy.

Bottles and fossils every time were never guaranteed even at launch, especially fossils. I very rarely find an extra fossil. Bottles are common, however.

There is a random chance on a mystery island where you can find diy bottles and fossils, although depending on the island if it’s not bamboo or fruit there’s always one furniture and one wasp on the tree. I went to 4 yesterday and out of the 2, there was diy bottles and the rest was none.

I noticed this too! I didn't usually get a fossil with every island, that one was always a hit or miss for me. But the bottles I haven't seen in weeks!

As others said it's random and I agree with the 1/4 to 1/3 of islands having fossils and bottles that other people are mentioning.

I will say it seems like rarer islands are less likely to have bottles/fossils than standard isles, but I haven't been tracking to run the math on that so it could be coinicidence.

It seems to be random. I’ve never always had a fossil and DIY bottle on every island. I tend to get more DIY bottles and fossils and I tend to get a bottle on the first two or three islands I visit then I don’t seem to get many at all.
