So I was playing ACNL, and I was dripping wet from my shower, but I was being careful. Then, my expensive, $200 3DS with HHD downloaded on it... Stopped responding. I switched my game to my spare to see if my game still worked, and it did! Yay! But... My town is now in March of 2014. You heard me. March. 2014.
The good news is, my main 3ds is working! The bad news is, I don't know how to move to the future without moving out any of my dreamies, because I have 6/10 dreamies. I have Beautiful Town ordinance.

That is super weird. Did you see any of the water get into the console itself? I have dropped my DS like two or three times and only once had a slight problem with slowness but it only happened once (my copy of the game is a download).

I have read through this forum that if you can get a villager to ping you and say they want to move (and you decline them) that you have five days of no one moving? I'm not sure if you could get them to ping, refuse their move and then TT forward 2 years? please ask an expert as I'm still learning the ins and outs but this is what I've taken in???

good luck, Koopa!!

Looks like you're stuck in 2014 then. Honestly, does the year really matter in this game? Sure, it may seem weird but idk how else it will affect your game

This is your best bet, unless you wanna drive yourself crazy by moving day by day. X_X

I have not played for 2 weeks and did this trick and no one moved. Can't say that will happen for years but it worked for multiple weeks anyway.

I don't really believe the year of your game truly matters, but whatever floats your boat. That's a weird change though. But yes, I agree with the above comments, and you can try to use the 5 days without moving to your advantage.

I can confirm that if you get a villager to ping you to move and tell them to stay. Then you can make large jumps in time. Go into your game and walk around your villagers. I one pings to move, tell them to stay. Then save and exit. Use the ds clock to tt ahead 2 years and you should be fine. Your town will be a wreck, your hair will be a mess and you will have cockroaches in your house. But all of your villagers will still be there. I would recommend you have the beautiful town ordinance in effect before you time travel, if you have hybrids. If you are a little unsure you can always go on as a new save when you have tt ahead and check your villagers before logging in as your mayor.

Okay! I hate my hair anyway, and I have Beautiful Town, so no roaches or wilted flowers.

If you don't want to lose any of your dreamies, you might just have to travel forward one day at a time. It can be reaaaally boring doing it that way, but you can ensure that you don't lose anyone, and you can make the most of each day at the same time by expanding your house(s) if you haven't already and buying anything you want form your stores.

that happened to me too. minus the water. i put my cartridge in my other 3DS, it was suddenly 2012 in my game. i didn't load my town, turned off the 3DS, and put it in my other one (when i got back home). it was fine, back to the actual date and time. super weird but? maybe try loading it back in your other 3DS

No worries though, you can always just pay 3k bells and get your hair done again. No harm done.

Good luck with the tting!! I really hope it works for you! Let us know if you were successful! :)

It worked! No dreamies moved! I waited until someone pinged me, then said no and TT'd two years. Of course, the villager I told no was Ricky, a non-dreamie, so go figure.

However, my circle pad is not working, and the A and B buttons are mixed up. Help!

I'm afraid we can't help you there

I can also confirm that if you find a moving villager, stop them leaving, you can then tt forward as far into the future as you like. I've done it many times now, honestly you won't lose anybody. I'm well practiced with time travel without losing Dreamies, it's a very safe method.
Very pleased your ds didn't break, by the way :) I think I would have had a mini heart attack!

Oh just seen your update :) glad to see it worked for you. Its a method I use all the time.
The only thing you can really do is go on to Nintendo support. How old is the DS?

It is the newest model, in red (though I really want the HHD Europe one, but that's Europe, not Texas) The "new" one.

To absolutely ensure that no one moves out of your town:

1. Buy a Powersaves

2. Wait for a villager to ping you and tell you they are about to move out. Tell them no.

3. Save your game and then use your Powersaves to make a backup of your game.

4. Turn off your game and reboot it. TT to desired date.

Although your town will look very weedy, you should have all of your villagers intact. And just in case you are still afraid the TT loop won't work, you will have a backup of your town before you TT'ed. I did this myself the other day when I backed up my game and then TT'ed 4 months into the future. All of my dreamies were still there. I just had a lot of weeding and haircuts to do, hah.

I'm very very sorry this happened! This is why I don't like people touching my 3DS with wet hands and I don't play when I have wet hands. I would just die if I couldn't play AC:NL anymore (I don't have a spare 3DS).
