Does anyone else have a ton of trouble narrowing it down to just ten villagers? Whenever I think I've figured out who I want my ten to be, I realize that there are other villagers that I'd love to have and it changes. Or, I get my dreamies and I'm very happy with them and keep them for about a month before I decide to switch some out.

I know a great solution to this is to just keep switching them out when I decide I want a different villager, but that becomes a problem. The problem is that it's a huge pain in the butt because of plot resetting (and trying to find or buy/sell the villager).

I want a steady town with the same ten so I don't have to keep landscaping and plot resetting, but I just don't seem to be able to do that. :(

It seems like most people around here choose ten and stick with them forever (or until one accidentally moves out). How do so many people do that? Are there other players who just can't choose between all the amazing villager choices? How do you fix this problem? ;-;

I have the same problem. Even now I look at my dreamies and think, damn that's a lot of normal type I will be ending up with. Shouldn't I spread out. :/a But yeah, I really hope they expand the number of residents we can have in the next AC game.

I definitely share this problem--it's not something that can really be fixed. And I think that's why a number of people play multiple copies of the game (besides ones that make cycle towns). I'm not ready to drop that much money down for a copy of a game I already have, though. It's just a shame that my town can't hold all of my favorite villagers.

Like Ribbyn said, it would be great if they added bigger towns or the ability to have more villagers in later games. That, or at least allow more than town file. I'd be satisfied with the latter, if the number of villagers never increases.

Definetly, I've had to make some tough choices to have an even spread of personalities with the villager limits :(
I'm trying to have at least one of each personality but it's so hard, there's so many I love ;-;

That's exactly how I feel :c
The game is expensive and there are so many other ways I should be spending that money. Plus I don't think I'd have the time for a second copy... Although I think about getting one a lot >.<

I also hope the number of villagers increases from ten in later games. Although I don't have a Wii U so I probably won't be able to buy any future animal crossing games. That's too bad ;-;

I also seem to end up with too many normals. I love them so much ;o;

It's too bad NL doesn't have a bigger map to fit more villagers.

Normals are just so cute! I wanted to keep Chevre forever but eventually moved her to my sister's town because I had 5 normals back then. At least I still get to see her often and talk to her and she still calls me by my nickname ;-;

maybe you're just playin it too safe. people make perfect towns, and they spend forever trying to keep it the same, and yeah it takes dedication and they look good, but really it's the nature of the game that things change sometimes. i guess you gotta be somewhat flexible with the whole thing? maybe someone moves out, and maybe someone else moves in and kills a bunch of your perfect fruit trees in the process. but, you know, that can be fixed and worked around. it might take some time to re-lay stuff out but in the end you've got a new villager. they might even be one of your dreamies, and if they're not, well, maybe you'll grow to like them all the same. i've done the same thing. anyway, your town now also looks a little different, a little fresher to your eyeballs, you know?

resetti would talk about taking the bad with the good, rolling with the punches and all that, and as a kid that kind of stuck with me. whole point is, if you feel you wanna switch some dudes out a massively micromanaged town might not be for you. just keep in mind that your town doesn't necessarily have to be meticulously planned out. you can mix it up every so often and still have it look great. :p

but yeah that's just my long-ass take on it.

Chevre is so precious <3
Ah, that's lucky. My sister also plays, but not very often. I think if I gave her a villager it would be accidentally voided. :'(

Yeah, that's a good point. That's actually something I miss about older animal crossing games: villagers used to be much harder to keep around and your town's villagers usually ended up very random. The fresh faces were nice.

But I also like being able to customize my town more this time around with plot resetting and choosing the villagers. It adds a lot more stress but it also adds more fun for me.

I do sometimes wish I could go back to not caring about who/where my villagers were though. I now have paths (made out of expensive four-leaf clovers) that I don't want ruined by random move-ins, so I don't want to take any chances by not plot resetting.

I wish the game still had pre-made move-in spots (the little signs in CF, WW and Gamecube that were the only places villagers could move in). But I wish you could decide where those plots were in your town. Then I'd have no problem with letting villagers come and go as they please. :(

Honestly, New Leaf is a great game, but this is one reason why I am looking forward to the eventually Wii U game. Handhelds are more convenient, but the Wii U will allow us to have bigger towns again so we can have more villagers.

I had this problem till I realised why not make the members of TBT choose who should be in my town so I keep posting threads that were like him or her? or her or her? or him or him? finally got there though C:

Yup, and this way the reason that I bought another cartridge.

For $50.00, which is the cheapest price you can find where I live...ouch.

I had to let Lily go for this reason. I loved her, but, too many normies in my town. Thankfully, someone was willing to adopt her, so she didn't end up off in the void. Sounds silly, but, dang...its so easy to get attached to villagers!

I feel you. I've been thinking of buying another copy just to have other villagers. I'm pretty tired of plot resetting that I just gave up and decided well I'm just going to deal with it and just keep the villagers I have at the moment.

Yes. My original plans were to keep Walt, Axel, Elvis and Ozzie. Elvis and Ozzie eventually left (I TTed them out by mistake), so then it became Walt, Axel and a newbie, Drago, that would stay.

Then I got Ankha, who's staying... Then when Lobo decided to leave I couldn't bring myself to let him go. Ugh.

Yeah, I have this problem. Not to the degree that I'd constantly cycle the villagers out, though. I just love a lot a villagers. It's one of the reasons why I don't TT because by just playing normally I get to enjoy spending a lot of time with awesome villagers I wouldn't have gotten have to known otherwise. It's also why I plan on starting a second save file when I have more free time on my hands (or whenever Beardo asks to move). That way I'll be able to have two unique towns full of villagers that I love.
