Seems I've caused quite a ruckus here? Didn't mean to, honestly, I'm really sorry! I was just joking, I would never so anything like that! I'm sorry the misunderstanding. I would never, ever steal anything from anyone's town.

I mean, before that part, you talked about how you're the type of person to return after being kicked out. However, the last sentence of "I permanently borrow" means, to me, that you do actually steal things. The words make it sound like you were telling the truth about behaving badly, saying that was a joke, and then admitting it's actually not a joke. You have to remember that we don't know you yet. The wording you use is important.
Try joking about stealing in front of employees while you're in a store and see how quickly you get kicked out

I'm always worried that it will happen to me. I wouldn't notice it before it was too late and I would give an item to the wrong person during trades.
Isn't it weird how type can be so super subjective? Just goes to show that as everyone has mentioned, you must be very careful how you word things. Especially when you are relying on the trust, goodwill and faith of others. I also would never allow someone I didn't know to visit my town if they joked about stealing. Inwould err on the side of better safe than sorry. However, I am glad you commented and clarified your meaning. Thank you, Cyan Flare

Also if you have no wifi ratings, you need to be even more careful because nobody knows you that well or how honest you are. You could legitimately steal our stuff even though you say you're only joking. You never know. I wouldn't allow anyone in when they joke about stealing either tbh.
Hey, don't worry about it. Even though there are hardly ever scammers or thieves on here, everyone is super-wary anyway so you have to be careful how you word things. c:

The thing is: Sometimes it's hard to tell when people are joking online. It's not like we can see your facial expressions or hear the tone of your voice. Sarcasm can be hard to "read." Feelings are much easier to hurt through written text, IMO. Wording is so important. It's nice that you came back to explain yourself. All we ask is that you be careful.
