But seriously, of all villager-type to partner with Hello Kitty, they chose a gorilla. Just wow. Haha I guess Nintendo wants us to like them, gorillas

I just feel like a gorilla is not the proper way to portray Hello Kitty, who is a delicate and small and cute character.
When you think of gorillas... you think of "ARGHHRGHHGRHRH!" Giant gorillas running through the jungle beating each other up. At least, that's what I think of.
I feel like they would've been better off making the Sanrio villagers the same species as their character. But eh. I don't know.

I know they intended on not making the characters the actual species their counterpart is (i.e. Hello Kitty not being a cat), but I seriously wish that they had.

Side note: I wonder what they would have done to Kuromi (my favourite Sanrio character) or Bad Badtz-Maru (my second favourite)?

I think it's possible that Nintendo were told they could represent the Sanrio characters but couldn't copy their actual designs.
I actually really like Rilla. She's not my favourite Sanrio but she's the best gorrila for me
