So I keep seeing all these people post about their incredibly elaborate themes for their town. Pastel theme, hunger games theme, undertale theme- the list goes on. I'm getting like, performance anxiety just walking around my town.

The closest thing I have to a theme is having my villagers say these greetings and such from a book series I like. Will my town feel bland or boring if I don't have something more elaborate tying it all together? And the only theme I have for my villagers is that I like them, I picked my path because I like it, not because it's fits a larger plan.

Idk man, do most people have themes?

It is hard to make a theme for a town. My town is Kingdom Hearts themed with my character's names and some of the patterns I made, but my house decorations don't really follow that theme. I mostly just have a bunch of random furniture and public works projects that I think look cool. I'd like to decorate my town more, but most of my silly pattern attempts just made the town look weird.

That is a cool idea to have your villagers quote a book series. I tend to just pick things that I think would be funny for them to say. Like Del says "Oh snap!" as a greeting because he is an alligator with scary teeth. lol

You don't need a theme
People just put theme becaused it's what they wanted
But play how ever you want :)

Of course you don't, I have a hunger games theme. But honestly I just wanted to do it because it was fun and I like decorating, you don't need dreamies, town themes, or anything. Just play how you enjoy the game.

Not at all. Look at me, (Mostly my town) I don't have a theme, and people who visit/dream say its good. And I actually wanted to have a theme, lets say "Themed park", a water park. 3 sides of towns have different themes. I cancelled it, though. But imagine if I actuality built one. (I should start it again sometime)

Enough self talk. Like I said, you don't need a themed town for a good town. This game lets you do whatever you want, so do it.

A theme isn't necessary to play. It's your town, so make it as you see fit. I'm just filling mine with flowers indiscriminately. It's a bit messy from the raw amount of flowers...

So there are varying levels of themes? I've seen a space themed one that BLEW MY MIND, but that level of landscaping and detail would probably just make me want to take a nap.

The oh snap thing is cute! In my first town I had all my villagers say 'hail griffon' and had my other characters say things like 'she lies' and had my basement be super creepy- like my mayor was a secret evil dictator. XD I think this time I might set up basements and villager saying like it's a bunch of aliens trying to fit in? Like a very cute area 51?

Thank you! That's actually really reassuring- I was worried people only liked towns that were themed and ornate? That theme park thing sounds pretty darn cool too

Wow, a space town sounds neat. I remember seeing an underwater one before with a bunch of fish and coral patterns on the floor. I just never know what to do with the outside. There is just so much open space. Maybe I'll try making a house that fits my theme. I only have two player characters, so I could try it on a third house.

It was so cool! They had all their characters say things like "the transforming is failing" and all the house were top to bottom sci-fi. The whole town had like a lunar tile on it- it was so cool. And I feel you on the outside of houses- unless your theme matches one of the nook options, you're out of luck.

I like using themes for my towns, but themes are never needed to create towns. It can be best to just enjoy the game and have a town without a theme.

I'm trying to make a theme, but so far it ain't working. I just don't have the motivation really. I seen many towns that had themes, but honestly it looks like a lot of work, so I just mill around.

my town doesn't have a theme and i don't think i'm gonna get one, i'm fine with the way it is. i do plan on having a theme with my villagers though, they're all gonna be mostly blue c:

Have several towns and really none of them have themes as such.
But as I play I tend to try and make them different from one another. I've done that sometimes by colour so one town has lots of pink flowers, pink houses, pink paths and I was lucky that two of the villagers were also pink. A bit too pink really! I can always change it, that's part of the fun.

If you have something you are interested in/like then you can have a go at making the town fit the interest. But its what you want to do, its just a bit of fun.

Just do what you want to do. :) I have never had a theme and always really liked my towns.

YES BE VERY ASHAMED

lmao jk no you dont need one, eventually though you might find a theme you want

I just put things wherever they looked nice too! I didn't really have a theme in mind while landscaping. My town turned out to be "modern" theme by the time it was finished. Maybe once you are done, you can find a theme to describe your town if you haven't thought of one (but not having one is fine too).

I just play around and make up my own tunes. Town tunes aren't necessary but allow for a better enjoyment of the game.

No, but I think it's a good idea, it'll give you a lot to do, and the chance to be really creative, and have fun.
