Yep. I think this fish hates me.

But like I said, I'll try again tonight at the dock. Maybe if the giant trevally doesn't show up I can get a bunch of sharks instead. Or I'll just get mostly C+...

I caught mine in a 3x4 pond. It also happens to be the only pond on my island. I had a much easier time finding the rare fish this time around.

I managed to catch one but it did take me 30-40 bait to get it. Way better than giant trevally, which I've no exaggeration used about 500 bait looking for. Still haven't found it. Gonna try again tonight though, since I have to hunt most of the new-to-June ocean fish.

If you find waterfall island with a nook miles ticket it’s classed as “rare fish island” you could get like 20 bait and you’re literally guaranteed to get it. Just stand on the pier next to Wilber and fish. It’s not actually that hard to get the island either, I found it like 4/5 times in 35 tickets

Try making a new pond, it helped me to catch one today
If you do not want a second pond, you can always get rid of it after catching the giant snakehead.

And I don't think the ponds need to be that big, the pond I made was pretty small, and it was the one I caught it in.

Also, I believe they are only out from 9AM to 4PM

And I know how you feel. I had this same issue with the barreleye back in March, and the Giant Trevally a few days ago. But after some time, I finally caught them! ^_^

I feel you.. this was the very last of the new-to-June fish and bugs that I needed to catch. It took a ton of bait, but I have a small pond along one coast. That made it easy to watch for balloons with the new DIYs while I went back and forth between clams and pond
