If another villager gives a villager an item, will they put said item in their house? Fang asked for Punchy to come visit him, so I brought him over and he gave Punchy a shirt. I saved beforehand just in case I have to quit 'cause I don't want Punchy's house messed up, I like to keep my villagers' houses original.

I've yet to see anything from visits like those in the houses, but I'm not entirely sure.

They may just keep it in their "inventory" or pockets and put it out later. I've noticed that items I've given them from ages ago sometimes appear in their houses after a certain time (usually when they are rearranging because I gift them new furniture I want them to display), so the same might apply for gifts given by villagers? It is an annoying feature though. I always end up buying their original furniture they put in Re-tail and gift it back to them.

ah okay, i'll quit without saving just in case, thanks for the info!

If you want to prevent their houses from changing, put junk in Re-Tail for every sales space and hike the price to the max - seashells and your town fruit at 999,999 will keep them from buying things (in my experiences, when things change in someone's house it will be because they bought something from re-tail/sold something to re-tail or you give them something like fish or bugs).

There are limits to how many things they can have in their house, so if they can't swap or get rid of items through Re-tail, then they should remain original.

actually i already do that, which is why 90 percent of my villagers' homes are still original! it's a good trick if you don't want them buying random, mismatched furniture for their houses. In that case, I only use Re-Tail to sell unwanted items ;v;
but thank you anyway! i just needed help with that one thing as i'm always concerned about it. :blush:
