Hiya fellas! I've just been curious about this. I've played the other AC games so I'm well aware of the idea of having a favorite fruit in the game and wanting to start with a certain native fruit, but I've never actually felt that favoritism myself. In every game I've played, I was happy with whatever fruit I got and never reset from what I was given. But I know not everyone plays that way and some want a certain type of fruit at the beginning to enjoy the rest of their game.
I didn't question it back then, because it was harder to trade for fruits, and you were stuck with your native one for a long time until mom sent you an exotic fruit in the mail. It made sense to restart until you were happy. However, with New Horizons, I've heard stories of people resetting over and over again for hours or even days in attempts to get their airport the right color, have the native fruit they want, etc...etc... I understand wanting certain colors and positions of things (like the peninsula), because you can't change that later, but I just don't quite understand the fruit part.
The online community is booming in New Horizons. Enough so, that people are willing to give you stacks of each fruit for no charge at all. So it's fairly easy to get what fruit you want. This of course, doesn't pertain to those with no online access. It would make sense for them if they had no plans to trade and just wanted a certain fruit without having to get it.
However, for those with online AC access and are able to trade. Would you say there's a big difference between having a certain fruit at the get go vs planting enough trees on your island that it looks like it's native? Why or why not?
For example, in my case...I've enjoyed putting tons of peach trees on my upper cliffs in my island because I think they look pretty up there, but they aren't my native fruit. However, I have so many of them (way more than i do pears which are my native fruit) that they might as well be considered "native" to my island. And what's nice about that, is that I still get to sell them for the price of an exotic fruit. If anything, it kinda seems like the best way to go with getting fruits, eh? When you start your game, get anything except your favorite fruit, trade for your favorite fruit online, replace all your trees with that fruit, then bingo!
It's perfect! And you don't have to restart your game!
But eh, what do I know? Am I crazy for thinking this? Let me know! What's your favorite fruit? How did your native fruit journey go when you started the game? Did you reset a bunch of times to get what you want or did you just roll with what you have? I'm just curious to hear what you guys think
