I have a challenge for you- Can you pick your top 10 favourite villagers?

oh boi this is really hard. i love a lot of villagers, i could have 10 towns and still miss some i really like haha

1. chrissy - she is just a bundle of joy, i really love her color sheme and that she has a sister ingame. i had her in new leaf since the beginnig. i love the sisters so much that my main island is pink and blue themed. i do love chrissy more tho, i think its because she is a peppy and also because i had her longer in new leaf, it took me a long time back then to get francine and i could never place their houses next to each other because of space issues so i swore myself i would give them enough room in the new game and so i created a whole island for them haha

2. sherb - ok soo francine SHOULD be here but this guy hit me by suprise when the new game came out. i didnt even want him on my island at first but i saw him on a mystery island in the first days after release and i took him because i knew he was new and i thought i could keep him around for a while but he grew soooo much on me. everytime i see him in my game i just get happy. hes so cute and derpy and idk he just won my heart haha

3. francine - finally the queen. dont have so much to say about her since i already spoke about her in chrissys part. i love the sisters, their colors, bubblegum k.k. and that they have each others photos in their houses. its just too cute.

4. molly - a baby. she is just so cute and pure and idk what to tell you. its molly hello? look at her! i had her in new leaf since almost day one and love her since then.

5. bob - the icon. hes just amazing. hes cute and purple and derpy and i reeeally have a soft spot for lazys lol i know him since i had him in wild world and he really grew on me. i also love that he always has the kiddie series in his house. its just too cute.

6. marina - honestly just cute, pink and always kind. normals are also my favorite type so she just wins overall lol.

now it gets really hard to seperate them lol

7. static - grumpy boi. i got him in new leaf by accident but he really grew on me and hes purple haha. shes just grumpy but looks smug at the same time. i love it. also squirrels are sooo cute in this game.

8. filbert - again cute, derpy, lazy, squirrel, blue, everythings just great about him. i also love that his interior is space themed.

9. etoile - im so happy shes back ;; i loved her in new leaf. she is my favoirte sanrio too because i love her color theme and all the star stuff and she is just the cutest honestly.

10. bam - it was really hard to decide who to put here since i love so many villagers but i really dont like jocks so it suprised me how much bam grew on me. i had him a little in new leaf but never long so i was really suprised how much i like him in this game.

honorable mentions: bunnie and mira are my sailor moon babies, stitches also a baby, hamphrey is my grumpy grandpa and i love him, julian because he is a unicorn and i love his whole theme but i reeeeeally dont like the smug personality also it fits him a lot and judy because she is just made for my main island.

I just reset my island so I don't have any of these, lol, but even before I reset, I really enjoyed having other villagers too!

1. Dom - probably the only genuinely ranked villager on this list in that he's above and beyond my favorite. New Horizons is my first game, and he won me over immediately with his big sad eyes and his wobbly chin and his pink face.

2. Dobie - the wolves somehow don't quite click for me a lot of the time; Skye and Dobie are the exceptions and of them, Dobie is my top cranky - I love decorating his space and having him wander around my island and sit on all of the benches.

3. Marshal - I'm that basic, yes. He's just! So small! So cute!

4. Genji - his catchphrase is mochi and his house is so unexpectedly gorgeous for a jock, and his design is so good! Loved having this buff rabbit on my island, would welcome him back in a heartbeat.

5. Ruby - the moon rabbit. I love the cultural reference she's based off of; it's one of the stories I grew up hearing. And it doesn't hurt that she's adorable.

6-10. A bunch of normals because boy am I a sucker for a sweet girl and a cute face. Let's say Maple, Poppy, Lily, Coco, and Lolly. (But there's so many honorable mentions - so many.)

This is a bit tricky LOL

1) Lobo - Lobo has been my absolute favorite ever since the early days of the GC version lol
I always have him in every game if I can, and he's the one villager I 100% refuse to let move out

2) Rudy - he was the first villager I fell in love with in new leaf lol, I saw him in one of my friends' towns and immediately had to have him

3) Snake - besides the fact that he reminds me of my beloved Solid Snake from the MGS series, what's not to love about a pink jock bunny lol

4) Hamphrey - another favorite from NL that has a special place in my heart, and the first cranky besides Lobo that I really adore

5) Ruby - definitely my favorite female villager and one of the few peppy girls that I actually like lol

6) Piper - I first started liking her in GC and was surprised at how much I love her simple design (also I thought she was snooty at first lol)

7) Zell - Best smug boy hands down lol. Very classy and loveable

8) Etoile - She is absolutely adorable and I love that her wool matches my character's usual hair color lol

9) Fauna - I love deer in general, and the fact that she looks like an actual deer and is very adorable is a win-win in my book

10) Tarou - oh, how I miss you, my beautiful jock wolf. Wish he'd return in the games, he was great and I love him dearly

1. Punchy - while I could do without the bug dialogue, Punchy will always be my no. 1 ☺.
I love that smug expression on his face even though he is a lazy cat; his overall design is so adorable . My fondest memories of him in NL (and the only ones I “remember” — thanks to a screenshot) are him commenting on the New Year’s Noodles I had out on display for decoration. He said food is for eating and not for decorating and to give him the food if I’m not going to eat it . He also reminded me a lot of a friend’s cat who I love and miss so much (haven’t seen him for years due to my friend temporarily moving out of state, being busy and now the pandemic).

2. Rudy has taken my number two spot. He was one of my starters; initially when I saw the back of his head, I feared it was Katt (who I now adore thanks to a visit to my campsite as well as other people’s screenshots and stories, but at the time I did not). I was relieved at the time it was not but once I found out he was a jock (since i hated the muscle talk) I had plans to kick him out eventually; I was happy though I got a cat for a starter since I love cats. I initially was neutral about his design but now, I think it is so clever (since I would’ve expected the rudolph reference be used on a deer villager not a cat). Now, he is definitely permanent villager. I have grown to love him so much. I seriously think he has the best expressions along with Punchy and Dom. I even like the jock personality more thanks to having him .

3. Kiki - Back in NL, i initially didn’t like her design but grew interested in her when I saw her up for adoption on tbt and after I adopted her, I grew to love her so much that she became a permanent resident. I ship her and Punchy together thanks to a design I made in HHD. I used her amiibo card to take a picture of her and Punchy sitting around a romantic dinner. Have not been able to get that image out of my head since then ☺. I used to not like her squished looking nose, but now I find that so cute . She reminds me a little of my sister’s late cat (the sister of my tabby cat)—except she is not snobby like my sister’s cat was and my sister’s cat had some white markings on her.

The next villagers I am honestly unsure what order to put them in. I love them all so much. ><

4. Ankha - I used to not like the snooty personality (as well as the smug personality), but when I saw her and had her on my island, I grew to like them. I just love her design; I love Egyptian/Middle Eastern themes and references. I thought her design was pretty clever. I believe cats were highly valued as pets and maybe as deities (not 100% sure since I haven’t read much on the topic) even In ancient Egypt.

5. Raymond - I initially wasn’t interested in any of the new villagers, but he was the first one that I eventually became interested enough to buy from someone here (who I am still grateful for and staying in touch with). I didn’t and still don’t care about his or any villager’s popularity (i don’t pay attention to that stuff tbh). I loved him for being a cat and because I like his design and how he looks grumpy and not a smug. The minute I saw his toothy grin, my heart melted and I was sure right that I made a right choice getting him and that he is a favorite.

6. Marshal - another villager I like partially because they don’t look like the personality they belong too. He has the cutest cheeks and cutest tail .

7. Lolly - I’ve never had her but I absolutely love her design and would like to one day. One of my late cats was a gray tabby. I miss her so much.

8. Rosie - was always one of my favorite villagers. I was so sad when I somehow accidentally let her move away from my town back in NL. On thebplus side, I got to know Merry as a result who also became a favorite. I love her color (not her outfit color though that too looked cute on her) and her eyes are really cute too .

9. Merry - I actually like the little tuff of hair she has and her toothy grin. As with Rosie, her upbeat personality always brings cheer to me talking to her. Her catchphraee mwee is so cute too .

10. Gaston - One of the coolest rabbits to me ( -I also think he is cute in his own way and precious ). Roscoe would normally be on my list but I just hate how much he sings (don’t like the cranky singing voice). Gaston was one of my first Nl villagers who I originally didn’t like but I believe he ended up staying permanently (unless he is gone if i ever go back to the game ). That mustache really suits him and the personality well. He looks so intimidating be he really is a sweet guy. He also had some sloppy furniture that I liked (still deserved a much better house but NL he had it better than in NH ).

I have so many other favorites as well as others who may become favorites once i get to know them. Honorable mentions to Puddles (liked her more in NL or at least the dialogue) who was one of my best girl friends, Drift and Frobert (love their colors and designs), Dom and sherb - both whom I initially didn’t have any interest in but grew to love both.

 

[Akeath]

1. Apple - she is just so cute and round and excitable. I also got my Apple from my husband's town, which is special to me.

2. Marshal - I love nearly all the squirrels, but Marshal is probably my favorite among them. He looks like a little marshmallow, and something about his eyes and body language makes him seem less snobbish than other smugs can be.

3. Drago - I love lizards. I've had some as pets and adore them but not many other people seem to care for them, so I'm always happy when lizards get representation as something besides a villain in games. I'm also a big fantasy fan and so love dragons. Also, Drago looks so different from the other alligators because of his frill, so he's unique among the villagers too. And his house is awesome and fits a lazy well. In my game I have a bunch of luck and gold items around his house, and he lives under a waterfall like a mystical dragon.

4. Marcie - I think there's something maternal about the sweetie personality, so I like having a Kangaroo sweetie. I also like Kangaroos in general, as it is cute seeing their little kid mimicking their expressions and I like making a kiddie park by a Kangaroo villager's house. I also love Marcie's sparkling eyes.

5. Axel - Axel always has a big, toothy smile and so he seems upbeat and cheerful. I also like that he's an elephant jock with a round belly. A lot of other jocks are muscle bound, and I like that Axel is working hard on his fitness journey even if he's still a bit big and round. I find that inspiring and encouraging.

6. Groucho - Groucho is so cute. He really accents the shy body language that Crankies can have in a way that I miss in a lot of other, grumpier looking ones. But his forehead scars provide a nice balance. I really like Cranky villagers in general - they remind me a lot of my Dad.

7. Ribbot - a robot jock is humorous to me. He's never actually building muscle, that's not how robots work. I also love his shiny metal skin and his slightly glowy eyes. His house is really cool too. He adds another dimension of humor to jocks, and is different enough from other jocks that you can have him and another one and their dialogue will come across quite differently because of the whole robot angle.

8. Tia - such a fun, innovative character design! An elephant that is actually a teapot. So cool. I've never gotten her in my village, and I don't have her amiibo card either, but I hope to get her some day.

9. Meringue - another creative design. I love how her horn is a strawberry and the top of her head is cream. In general I don't like Rhinos because their heads come off as too massive and oddly proportioned to be attractive. But because the upper part of Meringue's head is designed to look like cream, it breaks up her giant head so it doesn't seem so ridiculously large, which makes her look a lot cuter. She's another one that I really like but haven't been able to have in my village. Someday, hopefully, I'll get to enjoy her.

10. Julia - Although she's technically an Ostrich, I like how they changed the coloring to turn her into a peacock. I think a Peacock meshes with the snooty personality perfectly. I love her blue and green body and her lovely multicolored tail. And her big eyes are gorgeous.

My top 2 villagers never really change but trying to decide which villagers fill the remaining spots is hard as there are so many that I like so they often change around a lot, currently these would be my top 10:

1. Fauna - I fell in love with Fauna when I first saw her in NL and she's been my favourite villager ever since, while her design is quite plain I've always found her really cute, plus she gets big bonus points for been the villager that most closely resembles Eevee to me, and I like how her colour scheme matches well to a real deer, also the normal personality makes her kind and friendly which I like. If I could only ever have one villager on my island then I'd always pick Fauna as I can't imagine playing the game without her.

2. Wolfgang - My king of second place, originally behind Peanut and then Fauna, Wolfgang has been one of my longest running top villagers since he first moved to my WW town. I'd initially thought that I wouldn't like the cranky personality or be a fan of the wolves but I quickly grew attached to his endearing grumpiness and lovely blue/yellow colour scheme. Since then I've ended up loving nearly all the wolves which has helped them to become my overall favourite species in the game but Wolfgang always holds top spot in my heart out of them for been my original one and for always been my permanent cranky in every AC game.

3. Sherb - I really like a lot of the new villagers introduced in NH but currently Sherb is my favourite, his design is relatively simple but I love his light blue colouring and thought he looked adorable the first time I spotted an image of him. I spent a very long time island hopping for him in the first couple of months of having the game but it was definitely worth all the NMTs when I finally got him and found he was even sweeter in the game then I'd expected, he's lived on my island ever since and I have no plans for him to move away.

4. Diana - When I originally played NL I didn't have much interest in Diana so when I started playing NH she wasn't a dreamy villager for me and I had no plans to find her for my island until I saw her on a mystery island very early on and as I was almost out of NMTs I decided to invite her. Since then she's become one of my favourite villagers, her design is really pretty and she has made me love the snooty personality while her background and house interior makes her seem a really elegant villager. Also on my island she's developed a lovely friendship with Sherb, they're always talking and visiting each others houses, so I couldn't split them up.

5. Molly - I'd never really been interested in the duck villagers until I first came across Molly in NL and instantly grew attached to her cuteness, she's a really sweet and friendly villager and she's definitely worth all the hundreds of mystery islands I had to visit until I finally found her. There are a lot of lovely normal villagers but currently for me none of them beat Fauna and Molly so they're my usual permanent normals.

6. Judy - After seeing a picture of Judy before getting the game I was sure that I wouldn't really like her as her big sparkly eyes seemed a bit too strange for me but this ended up been another case of finding a villager very early on in the game when I was low on NMTs so I ended up inviting her. I found that when she moved to my island that her eyes didn't bother me at all, they just seemed to match her character really well, and her lovely pastel colour scheme makes her seem like a cute beanie baby.

7. Raymond - A very similar case to Diana and Judy, I hadn't been planning to have Raymond but found him on one of my first island hopping excursions when NMTs were in short supply and he's now become a permanent villager on my island. I really like the smug personality and think his design is really sweet, also his colour scheme is a bit similar to one of my cats which makes him more special to me.

8. Rosie - I'd liked Rosie in all the previous games but she'd never been one of my top 10 so when I first had her on my island I decided to get her photo and then allow her to move away but now she's gone I've realised how much she's grown on me, she's a really cute and lovely villager who I now really miss seeing wondering around so as soon as I'm island hopping again I'll be looking to find her again.

9. Bunnie - Currently my only permanent peppy villager, until I find Rosie again, I think Bunnie has a sweet design and I like her bright colouring and how it matches really well to the island setting. Also rabbits are one of my favourite animals in real life and as Bunnie is my favourite one in game she's always held a special place in my heart.

10. Peanut - I have Peanut on my NH island at the moment and while I don't plan to keep her in the long term as she isn't one of my favourite peppy villagers I still rank her highly for been my overall favourite in the older games. I'd first had her in WW and fell in love with how cute she was and since then I've always been a big fan of her and have aimed to have her in every AC game, even if it's only for a short time. I have her as a permanent villager in my NL town so that I can still keep her in one of my games after she moves off my NH island, she is always a special reminder of all the great memories I have from first playing WW.

1. Marshal - My adorable marshmallow squirrel. NL was my first AC game ever, and I immediately fell in love with Marshal the very first time I saw he looks like whiling googling for his pic. Plus he has a smug personality which is easily one of my top 3 personalities. He was in my NL town, and now in my NH island, and is never allowed to go anywhere XD

2.Ketchup - ahh another instant fell-in-love at first sight. I love tomatoes in real life (XD) and am a big ketchup addict so the chance of me not loving ketchup the villager is zero. I only don't have her on my island right now because she doesn't quite fit the foresty/cottage core vibe i'm shooting for, but if I were to have a food themed island one day, she'd be the first villager I invite.

3. Julian - what can I say, he's my animal crossing crush lol so dreamy and so dashing, not to mention Julian always had great taste in house interiors and furnitures haha. I have him on my NL town, and whenever he's home I made sure to visit him.. only if my character could live in his house....

4. Genji - The best jock villager in my opinion!! Again, have him in my NL town but don't have him on NH island due to clash of aesthetics (yes, that's more important to me than the actual villagers lol).

5. Dobie - Old grumpy wolf grandpa. I love him because he reminds me of my grandpa in real life XD plus I feel like his presence increases the age diversity of residents on my island which is great

6. Maple - Okay so I didn't really get the hype about maple back in NL, but now that I have her on my NH island I can see why she's so popular. Really nice, neutral palette and has a very cozy house. Maple has really grew on my as one of my top normals

7. Stitches - Stitches is cute as heck, and has a lot of sentimental value to me since he was a natural move-in to my first ever NL town. He's the perfect kidcore villager if I ever make an island dedicated to that theme

8. Winnie - not sure super popular but same as stitches I have a soft spot for Winnie due to sentimental reasons. She's the first peppy villager I ever have and befriended with ><

9. Fauna - ahhh sweet baby Fauna. Honestly i think she's the cutest deer of the bunch, just super adorable design and she fits perfectly in the normal personality. I secretly ship her and Erik who also lives on my island because they are just a cutie pie couple.

10. Katt - I really want her on my island!!! She has such a it-girl kind of vibe and I love that she's so cool. Probably one of the best uchi/sisterly in my opinion. Plus Katt is a cat and i love kitties so I'm super biased haha


Am I allowed to include honorable mentions? Poppy, Pango, Grizzly, Kabuki, Plucky, Erik in no particular order and I can still go on and on...XD there are just way too many villagers I love - too bad I'm only limited to 10 plots on my island

Alright, so, in order to help me narrow down the villagers I love (there are SO many) I made sure I had one of each personality, and then one extra boy and one extra girl. Otherwise there are just WAY too many I love!

Ursala- Most underrated villager by far. She's got a great color scheme, adorable face, cute hair, precious little freckles, and what species fits the sisterly personality better? She's tough and kind of intimidating, but ultimately caring and maternal. Even her house is awesome. Seriously, could not love her more, Ursala is my girl!

Dobie- He's the one cranky who genuinely looks old. He's an adorable cranky grandpa wolf and how can you not love him?

Julia- Beautiful lady with lovely colors and the most adorably expressive eyes! Seriously, I had wanted her for awhile but when I actually saw her in game I was even more excited. She's gorgeous. Also, she's 100% trans, and no one can change my mind on that.

Raymond- Cliched, I know. But I love his face, I love his glasses, I love his mismatched eyes, I love his hair... I really genuinely love his design. I mean, popular things tend to be popular for a reason, y'know? And it's clear his design was lovingly crafted.

Maple- A sweet little cub who was the first villager I ever met is any game. That memory alone makes her a favorite for me!

Merry- She was my starter peppy and I kept her for MONTHS. I squealed when I saw her name on the sign because I recognized it, and she's SUCH a cutie. Her expression, her hair, her rosy dot cheeks, her coloring... just the perfect peppy cat.

Bonbon- Bonbon is so adorable and underrated! Seriously, her eyes are one of a kind amongst villagers. It's odd because it really feels like an artist put so much effort into her to make her as unique and precious as she is!

Stitches- Reminds me of a teddy bear I had as a kid, and is just such a cutie. I don't always love overly themed villagers, but he's an exception, and is just SO cute. Plus, his play hobby is just so perfect for him!

Teddy- Just a great classic bear. I love his whole vibe, his house, how it fits his personality, etc. He's just a cool dude.

Shep- I love villagers that kind of break or play with the mold, and his shaggy fur makes the dog head feel less awkward to me. Also, when he's surprised or scared, his hair parts to reveal a cute tiny eye! ALSO also- he has the education hobby and, when he was on my island, I always laughed to see him wearing glasses because it was like... really, Shep? That's how you're going to improve your eyesight? Glasses? Not, like... a haircut?

Honorable mentions: Vic (awesome viking bull with beautiful eyes), Ava (precious little country chicken girl), Sherb (pretty pastel goat boy), Graham (my first ever smug, will always have a special place in my part), Pierce (have great memories of him in the GC game), Tangy (super sweet fruit cutie), and Hazel (can rock a unibrow like nobody's business)

ohhh man, there are so many villagers that I like even though I've let a few of these move on and off my island as they please. off the top of my head I'd probably say:

No matter how many times I list my favorite villagers, these are always going to be my top 5:

Sterling - best eagle, best jock, best bro
Rolf - birthday buddy, best tiger
Punchy - best cat
Rudy - I just love him for no apparent reason ever since I had him as a villager in New Leaf
Bob - because bob

The remaining spots were a little difficult to fill in because I like a lot of villagers. So I had to list them all down and finally narrowed it down to these guys.

Lobo - first cranky in New Leaf, also his design stood out among other wolves (except Kyle, great design)
Rod - earliest jock villager I had, pirate theme, best mouse
Kid Cat - superhero cat, also one of my earliest jocks along with Rod
Curt - bandages on forehead
Dobie - grampa wolf, I only met him in NH but I really liked his concept and design

It's difficult because I haven't had the chance yet to meet a lot of them and to love them. So, I'll talk about them physically. And maybe mentally (in the way I don't really like siserly for example) so sorry if this is a bit wide.

10. Ruby. She's cute and her chinese name is the same as my character's. It's not a reason as well lol but I don't care.
9. Genji. Not a big fan of jock villagers but his look is surprising. I mean, with this appearance, he could be a smug, or even a cranky... not a jock. Love his smile!
8. Zucker. I have some memories with him and remember I was so happy when I first met him on a mystery island, with beautiful hybrids as well. Took a picture lol.
7. Julian. Because one day I had Unicorn (in French) as a username on a website, long long time ago! Love his look, love his colour, love unicorns!
6. Kabuki. He has a very nice and original look so I would be happy to greet him someday on my island!
5. Elmer. Had him on one of my Wild World cities and I remember clearly I loved him so much!
4. Wolfgang. Had him a long time ago, on Wild World or whatever, I don't remember. I remember however the sound of wolves when you talk to them, like someone knocking a door, I love it!
3. Fauna. I miss you too girl. Most cute normal villager of all times!
2. Roscoe. He was on my previous island and I loved him so much! Had his picture once, first picture! Always in my heart.
1. Marshal. Because he's so cute! I know it's not a reason but... it's mine for now haha.

1. Bones - I've had him in every AC game since gamecube, he's just the most adorable boy. He was my first lazy and I just fell in love with their personality type. I adore the dog villagers to begin with and he's just such a good boy!

2. Ozzie - Again, lazy villagers have my whole heart and Ozzie is just such an adorable sweetie. I have a stuffed koala bear IRL that i've had since the day I was born so I think that is one the reasons I have such a soft spot for koalas.

3. Portia - She's just such a classy gal and she's very pretty. I love the snooty personality and she's just so fancy. I enjoyed the snooty personality more in the older games, but I do enjoy how sophisticated they are in NH.

4. Lobo - I mean who doesn't love a cranky old man? He's perfect and him and Shari are practically married in my AC games.

5. Shari - See above, she's Lobo's other half. They're always in the same area and talking or at each other's houses. In NL they would always sit with each other on a bench. Even in Pocket Camp they're always doing cute stuff together. Also, Shari is just adorable and she's so weird and quirky. I love it!

6. Coach - Yeah, I said it. Coach! He's a sweet man cow who just wants you to be healthy!

7. Bunnie - Based off looks alone she has to be in my top 10.

8. Stitches - Again with these lazy boys, I just love them. Stitches is also just so unique looking and he's a teddy bear, what is not to love about him?

9. Melba - Like with Ozzie, I really love Koalas and Melba is so pretty and sweet.

10. Jambette - because duh she's a queen.
