I have been waiting for Joey to move out of my town for months because I've been dying to place a bridge in my town right up by the waterfall and my house. Sounds great, right? Well, Isabelle thinks my house is too close ;-; I don't even think it is, like seriously, there is SO much distance between my house and where I want to place the bridge. I'm dead ;-;

Completely agree with you! I hate the way PWPs work in this game, it's one of the only aspects I don't like.:(
Also hate the way there's only one at a time, and that demolishing something actually costs bells!
Really hope they change this system for the next game, it really makes decorating your town a pain haha:(

Isabelle thinks that is too close? :/ I have a fountain infront of my house closer than that. I can understand if there is a PWP in the way on the other side, but saying that your house is too close is just silly. Have you tried 1-2 blocks farther south yet?

Pretty much all of the decorating mechanics in the game are annoying, the PWP placement restrictions being the most atrocious of them. I hope that the stuff you see in HHD ends up in the next main game...

Mhmm. I'm apparently out of luck, which sucks because I have a fountain closer to my house than that, too! And villager homes can be built closer to my house than this bridge (experience with plot resetting proves this to be true). I'm just angry at this entire game right now ;-;

So there's a PWP infront of your house? If so, moving the bridge farther south 1-2 spots could be possible unless you have a villager house on the other side or the river turns just outside of the screenshot you posted. If the coast is clear and all you have to do is demolish the fountain to clear the way, I say demolish the fountain, build the bridge, and rebuild the fountain after installing the bridge (the fountain can be in the bridge's way, but the coast has to be clear when the bridge is being constructed). Hope this helps! :D

This is directly in front of the waterfall leading to the beach. No villager home on the other side- Joey just moved out and that's why I'm building it now. Or trying, anyway. There's not one DIRECTLY in front of my house, but the game IS saying that it's my house that's too close, not the fountain. I'll try deleting it though- at this rate I'm desperate.

If you need help with bridge placement, I would be glad to visit your town and help you with whatever is necessary to install a bridge close to your house (path placement sketching [digging holes to mark where the path should be moved to], chopping trees, plant flowers, etc.). :D

It's because of PWP restrictions that people hack their stuff in the game. Seriously, that REALLY sucks though. I remember trying to place a PWP somewhere and Isabelle said it was too close to the cobblestone bridge.

The bridge was barely even in frame of where I was standing. Dammit Isabelle.

That has happened to me too. I want to place my third bridge by my house but I can't because my villager's house is in the way. Guess I'll have to wait for her to move.

I may have an all dog town but I despise Isabelle. When I try to cycle she always reminds me to work on my mayor approval rating. Her over happiness gets on my nerves too for some reason.

I REALLY want to love Isabelle but the overly strictness in PWP placement that she gives you is absurd and makes me come to dislike her.

I agree
That happened in my old town when I wanted to redo all my bridges (one of the main reasons I reset)
but I learned it has to be 5 squares in any direction for a bridge to be placed

This and random house placements are without a doubt the most frustrating aspects of this game. I mean seriously, how hard is it to just give us a visible grid system or ditch the restrictions entirely? Like, how did the developers screw up this bad? Freaking ridiculous.

The next game had better fix those two problems, or else I might not buy.

I remember being very upset because Marshal moved in where I wanted to put a bridge. I was upset, but quickly changed my mind about the bridge because I love Marshal and wanted to keep him. Few days later I let him move because I really wanted that bridge.

"The shape of this river is different from the bridge."

...

DIE. GO DIE. bad dog Isabelle.

Villager house placement sucks too. In this game you can kinda control it by making a new character, but if we can place street lamps, and, heck, even Tokyo Tower, then why can't we control where houses go? I hope they make it a thing in a new game

I also hate the PWP restrictions. Plus, I don't like how they have you set it down pretty much randomly without allowing you to get a bird's eye or a larger view of the area surrounding the PWP. A grid system like they have in HHA would be wonderful, which is probably the direction Nintendo is going.

^ I now legit want to know why they did that. Theories?

Probably an oversight. Nintendo wanted to keep some element of randomness and surprise that comes with new people moving in, and probably didn't even consider that people would be upset about animals moving in random spots. I hope they fix that, and it really seems like they will for the next game.

I actually hope Nintendo steals an idea from Metropolismania as well, make a new cell phone item and have potential new villagers call and ask permission to move in. That way you know someone's trying to move in, and who. The person who calls would be random, but at least then you have more control over whether someone moves in. But with the amiibo cards is seems like that's the way things will go, but for those of us who don't want to buy a bunch of cards, I hope that they make an alternative option as well.

I have a feeling thats where AC will go. A kind of pay to win thing.
Of course it will be playable by itself, but think of the money Nintendo will make from all the kids who want a villager and getting their parents to buy the cards for them

from my experience, the bridges are the strictest about how much space they need on each side. I've had a similar situation where I wanted to place a bridge but the game wasn't letting me, saying that a villagers's house was too close (yet also, in my opinion, there was plenty of room). I wish they had a space preview, showing how much space something is going to take up, rather than just telling you.
