I decided for a fresh start, but the town I got was great right up until the tree planting ceremony where it pans back to reveal all 5 villagers! I then discovered I had a disgusting albino hamster as a starter :( so it's back to the train journey again :( I can't stand hamsters in NL they just don't fit in the game for me, anybody had a similar experience?

Well you can check on the villagers before you plant the tree you know. Just bring up the town map. I always check when I reset/start a map so I don't get crap or obvious dreamies.

Flurry and Clay is cute.. and that black guy otherwise they are meh.

The only hamster I can say I like 100% is Clay. Rodney, Graham, and Hamlet ain't that bad but I guess that's just me.

Just imagine Rodney, that chubby smol pimpleface with a smug personality trying to hit on your mayor. Graham may be a big nerd but he's got that flashy smug attitude too. And Hamlet, so tiny and squishy, bragging about his muscles. Hamsters are funny.

I have several towns, I try not to get duplicate villagers, unfortunately I do have some (3 Zells!, 2 Opals & 2 Phoebes - gotta get rid) - that is far worse than hamsters - I have Rodney, he's cute, I've got worse. Have Apple in another town, like her a lot, hope to keep her.

If you like the town otherwise, I wouldn't worry about the villagers. They'll move out in time.

At one point, I had Agnes in both towns and I hated it. I adore her and she's a permanent villager in Pripyat, but I don't want her in two towns. After all, I can only have 10 villagers per town and with 300+ available, it's annoying to get multiples.

Well, everyone has at least one animal type they're not fond of, and I personally love the hamsters. Balamb has all of them, except Rodney because...no effing thanks.

And honestly? Flurry is pretty popular, so even if you don't like her, there are others who would love to have her in their towns so you could always make a quick profit with her. Not that I'm a big fan of selling villagers, personally.

But if you're starting out, you'll have a ton of villagers move in and out - villagers are one of the few things you can change once you've settled on a town. I wouldn't care if I had a good town layout with villagers I didn't care for; you can TT to get rid of them, and replace them with villagers from the trading board, and then you have the opportunity to reset to get their house in a good place!

Yeah well I hop to find a town to settle in before too long, hopefully with some decent starter villagers this time, god forbid I get another hamster but as you guys have all said, layout is permanent, villagers can come and go :P

Why not just wait for the hamster to move out? Resetting your town can take so long already.

Aaww :( I like the hamsters.
Though, I tend to like villagers of all species. There's not a species that I hate every villager of.
At least it was Flurry, and not Violet :p

If you hate Flurry so much just wait for her to move! And maybe she'll even grow on you in time, happened to me with Diva the nasty frog. :p

Eww Violet, lol I had her move in and was like "who is this gross gorilla, she doesn't deserve to share a name with my mayor!"
But then I also saw her on someone's dreamies list. Just shows how opinions can differ xP

I map resetted for over a week until I finally found THE map...full of villagers I can't really stand. And Cole...but I already have him in Bunifrey, so he won't be staying.

I do think having at least some starting villagers you like is important because if you don't care to talk to ANY of them, it can make you (IE, me) not even want to load up and play.

In my opinion, if you like the map, it shouldn't matter what villagers are there initially. Villagers can always be cycled out and changed. Maps can't. It would take a lot of luck to get your ideal map and villagers all at once!

Aww, I love the hamster villagers, especially Hamlet. He was my very first hamster villager, both mines and my little brother's favorite.
If only we could have up to 15 villagers again...
