I havent been on my first town too much after starting my 2nd town but after the update today I decided to load it up and time traveled a day ahead to get the HHD thingy and the secret storage space. lo and behold maple is in boxes after going forward 1 day and I have 4 characters so I cant plot reset a 10th villager : ) I hate everything

Im not sure how it all works yet, but in the new update you can invite villagers from your amiibo cards, and you can convince them to move in, and it overrides the 16 villager cycle. I lost Bunnie, my favourite, a while ago and im trying to find her amiibo card so hopefully i can invite her back! If you have an NFC reader and a Maple card, maybe you could invite her back? I could be wrong, but im pretty sure its how it works.

aww that sucks :-( there definitely seem to be a few significant cons from this update. I am quite amused with the amiibo camera though
The exact same thing happened to me when I loaded up my first town after 6 months! Maple had already moved out! :'( I had her since the first few weeks of that town. I'm sorry.. she's such a cutie!!
