I HATE diving /a rant thread

I agree it can be very very frustrating. Especially when you have been chasing something and it then goes under the little bridge thing or outside where you can swim!! Why is it allowed to do that? It goes outside the area and then stays there because you can't get to it!! Drives me mad.
It's a very slow process, I've nearly caught all the ocean fish now and since then the only time I dive is to get PWPs or to jump off a cliff when I'm just messing around.
It's not the best or my most favourite feature of the game but I do think I'd miss it if it wasn't there.
Plus, I do enjoy collecting the Pascal furniture (although collected whole set and sold them now so)....

Sometimes I think Nintendo just put diving in to troll all the 100% gamers. 1000 dives for the gold badge?!

It took me a while to get the hang of diving, but I did manage it. I have manage to get all but one of the diving creatures (waiting for March for that last) and get all of Pascal's furniture for my catalogue. Along the way I got the silver badge without actively trying. I haven't been actively working on the gold badge, but when March comes I'm going to lose my last excuse not to start.

Eh actually I do :] But yeah the in-game diving mechanism is stupid.. like you move like a freaking pile of dump :[

I like having the chance to acquire deep sea creatures and the premise of diving is a good one. I'm not at all a fan of the button mashing because I don't really want to damage/wear out my 3DS. I'd probably be more into the diving in a console release where I can just go crazy on a controller.

Diving, to me, is fun but I agree that your character moves really slow so you end up mashing the A button. S:

i hate diving too. its too tiring for my right hand especially when i have to catch a fast underwater creature.

I agree. I hate diving and I think that they should just abandon it altogether as you said.
Like, it hurts my thumb because I want to go faster. Then I start pressing faster and it does NOTHING. Like you can never keep up with the little shadow of the fish and it just.. HURTS.
It makes me want to scream and throw my cartridge outside.

I used to love diving! In my first town, I almost completed all of the sea creature category of the encyclopedia. But now I find it tedious, like you. But I don't necessarily hate it.

at first i really hated diving but then i realized that while underwater if you stay until you are just about to run out of air, you can go faster than usual.

Oh yeah, at first when I tried the diving for sea fish, I was panicing thinking my A button will be broken by the time I finished the record section for sea diving fishes. I didn't so much try the diving method for unlocking public work projects, my town always seems to be messy and fixing that I usually spend a couple minutes before I run around and have villagers ping about stuff xD

I don't mind diving. I was actually quite happy when I found out that in the game you can actually swim in the water.
