It's actually really funny. What you want to say is:

Friend.
friend.
present.
friends.
(item name).

And then attach a(n) (same item name).

whered you find it from. is there any sources that say that it works or what

I always heard that punctuation like ! and sentence structure and longer letters were best with gifts from their preferred list, meaning what you would see in their original home or especially those listed as birthday options on sites like thonky.com.This one really does not have a solid proven basis I do not believe but thanks for giving out keywords you find work well for you, anything you find helps may help others.

Oh, so if I write something like this:

"Eugene my friend!

I got you a present that you
might love to have for keeps.
Since we're friends, I'll tell
you what it is. Its a Mama
Polar Bear! A spotlight item.
Please enjoy!

Your friend, Anthony."

That will actually raise their friendship too?

I put either "Three words here" or "I hate writing." With random fruits! They always send me back full letters :) Gifts when I have a higher friend level or if they are the sweet kind :P

That is really cool but, it reminds me of kyle who left my town and i want him back i consisdered restarting for hime but you knwo my town is too good to restart and i toooo lazy to cyle him back because it makes me sad you knwo he is really cool because he has reare furniture and he is too cool too pass up you know that? he is too cool. like a flower of carntion and cration you know that he is too cool to let go and i so so so so sad sad that he left me why did you leave kyle is like a soung like the thong song that says i loved tyou for a thousand years and die every say waiting for tou dor a thousand years and junk its really cool you know i wish kyle was back!!! mira also left and she is too cool to lose because she is like sailor moon only a bunny and she is a bunny and bunnies are so too much so much too cool to pass up uou know that? hah you didn't because you probably don't like them but who cares since i am too cool for you and mira and kyle and all vilagwers are too cool for you and for school and you know that because you have crappy villaagers jk im not mean you have nice villagers you know that? unless you don't like them and i will take them for you you know that too much don't you you know that ha ha ha ha you know it i say that alot. i loved you kyle why oh why did you move out why!?! and mira you too why oh why i loved you moth both o why o why o why you mean animals!

It's neat that you found a formula that seems to work well - this game is very picky about letters!

I personally enjoy writing more coherent letters (full sentences and such), but this kind of info is always worth knowing.

I only get a roughly 30% gift return rate on letters that I send out with gifts, so this may be worth a shot.

Yes. Even something like this will work too. XP

"You are not my friend. Totally not a friend. I will not send you a present, specifically a pear, because we are not friends."
*attach pear anyway*

"I loved that letter blah blah blah"

XD

I'm pretty sure that they tend to like letters best when you fill up all the spaces and include punctuation and special symbols (like stars and such). I've heard that they like the word friends before so I tend to include it just in case but I don't really know if it applies to ACNL or not. There's a great thread about letters (with tips and sample letters) here: http://www.belltreeforums.com/showthread.php?239820-The-Letter-Resource.

I don't know...I used to send my villagers letters like that daily. My friendship with villagers had increased to the 'surprise visit' threshold with 3 of my villagers mostly because they had been in town for almost a year. Most letters I attached perfect fruit and customized furniture to. Not only did they never display it, I always seemed to get some generic "Thanks for writing that letter, we should hang out more!"
