My island was over ran with flowers but I was stubborn and determined to get rid of them,, so I did now I can do paths and see grass! :3
I finally did it,, I reduced my flowers to nearly 20%

i have the same problem, the entire middle section of my island has been overrun by black/pink hybrids and i'm too stubborn to dig them up LOL i think this is a sign for me to finally get rid of everything
It's a good feeling! I have been working on the same problem for my island, but by the time I reach the end of it, it has always rained a few times and it got out of hand again... Now I'm trying to contain all of them with fencing/furniture/(invisible) patterns...

Yes it's been a rainy season on my island,, I was so lazy to clear my camp area that I just made my "famous mum field"
I don’t think I’ll ever run into such a problem because my island is filled with floors that can’t bear flowers... 
I do have a portion dedicated to growing hybrids, though, but I imagine that it’s not nearly as fast a process as on your island. I mean, let flowers run rampant for a while and they’ll produce a bunch of hybrids on their own, no?

Oh I got a lot of hybrids just too many flowers overall,, Especially pink n red ones,,I don’t think I’ll ever run into such a problem because my island is filled with floors that can’t bear flowers...

That sounds like such a relief. I gave up and made my flower field into a kind of feature, and now it's almost completely filled in. However they've since crept into other areas of my town and now I have the same problem everywhere you look, so the time approaches to craft a lot of shovels.
