I feel like I made a mistake buying the guide

I will help! Send it my way so you dont have to feel regret everytime you look at it XD But seriously, it still has tons of useful info about the game so i am sure you are gonna find it very helpful, or you just use it as a collectors item and display it somewhere or something. I felt regret after choosing my new laptop but i cant return it because the place i bought it from doesnt let you return electronics, so since there is nothing to be done i just started looking at the positives. Try looking at all the good things that are in there instead of what is missing.

I love it for the checklists. My morning routine is to grab my guide and then go buy everything I don't have from the shops and mark them off in the book. Then I give gifts to all of my villagers and mark off what they give me in return. Idk, it's a nice relaxing routine and something I look forward to.

I also love being able to just look through all the villagers and their house interiors and just enjoy the art. It's not necessary, or really super useful, but it's enjoyable to flip through.

There seems to always be a few print errors for guidebooks. You can usually catch a few in other media like text books and novels as well.

Was able to nab mine for around $30 and I‘m happy with it despite the physical version being out of date. It looks great and I love having the index of villager photos/interiors.

I also have the Wild World and New Leaf ones so this is a nice addition to the collection.

I think we all suppose to get a PDF version for free in the future (those of use who bought the guide)

i didn't buy one, but i would see a lot more value in it as a collection piece if it included development process and character art. that's the stuff i'm interested in! but that probably wouldn't be a guide book anymore lolol.

I was going to buy it, but I decided against it as it was expensive for something that eventually would be outdated! However, it is a nice collectors item!

I really like having my games physical instead of downloaded but guidebooks have never really done it for me. All of the information is always available online, especially with games like this one with so many players (and the information online is usually better and more complete as long as you know where to look)

I dunno. Feels like one of those things that would be neat to have, but I'd put it in some drawer and never look at it ever. I suppose you could put it on a shelf with other things from games you care about though, just as a sort of trophy to glance at every once in a while. :P

I got it just as a collectors item but I agree it’ll get outdated. It was only $25 though

I read about mistakes in the book, so I prefered to not buy it to avoid that...
And and, since we have monthly (almost) updates, I'm not sure it's a good decision to buy the book... things will change soon enough!

The possibility of the book becoming outdated is the primary reason why I decided not to purchase one for myself. Honestly, the concept of guidebooks nowadays are a bit outdated because the information they contain can be easily found online. However, I think that it can still make for a nice collection piece or for a fun read, especially for a casual fan of Animal Crossing who isn't knowledgeable about how to find information about the game through free sources online like our forum, or who prefers to compile information in a physical format.

I have a copy of the City Folk guidebook and it would have been a nice collection piece had I not repeatedly written in it/thumbed through it as a kid to the point at which it looks very worn...

I have it, too.

They promised digital updates to the guide, but unfortunately they have yet to deliver anything, even some form of communication saying that they need some more time or something.

It's been month since the Redd update - all of the information is online for his Paintings, yet they still haven't finished updating it. Disappointing.

Use the QR code in the companion guide to get the updates and errors.
The QR Code is on the bookmarks and page before table of contents (bottom left corner).
The artwork is listed with fake information. There are no artwork pictures. May and June Events are listed.
There is a new updated legend for the bugs.

Honestly thats why i didnt rush to buy it. The idea of having outdated info in a guidebook im meant to be relying on kind of scares me

I had preordered it back in March but I got kind of tired of waiting on it plus I kept seeing from people who had already managed to get their hands on it that it had a ton of errors so I cancelled it about a month ago. Last week on Amazon I saw that it was back in stock so I decided to go ahead and get it and I'm glad I did honestly. I got a copy that had all of the errors corrected and I haven't had any issues accessing the update PDFs. At this point there's a lot of info missing and it would've been more helpful to have when the game released but the villager and item checklists and the hybrid guide and stuff like that are always helpful. I mostly like it for the collector's value but if you don't care about that then basically all of the info is online for free.
Plus, the book smells amazing.

Despite some information being out of date, I would love to buy it one day! It's still a good memorabilia.

I got mine for collecting purposes knowing that any updates wouldn't be in it.
I guess it would be good to look back down the road to see how far the game has progressed.

You could make it your own guide by adding little sticky notes and whatnot with the updated information :D
