So today one of my villagers was moving and so I put up a thread in the plaza, and someone showed interest. So after agreeing on a payment and opening my gates... not only the buyer comes over but two people on my friend list decide to crash my town. I tell them it's rude to just randomly crash others towns and it turns into this big thing, and I'm sure the buyer felt very awkward. If you are reading this, I'm sorry and I hope you enjoy your villager anyway.

It does get quite annoying when people crash each other's town, but most of the time, that is if the person crashing is a friend, I end up making them feel awkward instead of the buyer. Crashing happens to a lot of people, so it might not be that big of a deal. :)

It might be better to personally tell the buyer that. It's more formal and makes an apology more genuine. But if you somehow can't reach them, then I understand. Or maybe you already have, I'm just suggesting :p

I wish there was a way to decide exactly who could come in your town, the "best friend" feature isn't going to help in these situations and I'm always nervous people are just going to barge into my town when someone else is there for trading/buying/selling.

Yea i hate when people randomly crash my town,
llike please dont just come unannounced.
I only open my gates for special reasons.

I can imagine how that would feel especially if the people crashing are good friends. I hope your friends come to realise that it is how you felt about the crashing and not them personally. A little message to your guest about the whole thing will be a good thing - but I am sure you have already sent one :)

I have only ever had one person crash my town but I got used to the young person doing so because he would go straight to the shops searching for certain items and not disturb any transactions or destroy my town.

I'm sure they'd forgive you. After all, it's not your fault right? But yeah, I would tell them personally that you're sorry. But really, as long as they get the villager, I don't see why it matter too too much. Perhaps they were just laughing and shaking their head going "oh god."
I know I would have. xD

Hey, it could be worse. You could have a villager in boxes, ready to sell them for a good 3 million bells, only to switch your cartridge to your other 3DS whilst not knowing that the date is set one day ahead on your main 3DS, and gleefully pressing B and only realizing after the town is loaded up that Isabelle gave you the wrong date, and that Whitney is gone, and now you have to tell someone how badly you screwed up and that you can't get their villager for them.

AND I lost out on 3 million bells.

I am sorry about that bad experience that you had there though! I'm sure a bit of explaining will clear it all up with the person, and a small lecture with your friends will always help too.

Lol I know how you feel! I had two buyers at the same time though, and one friend. The friend went to take a look around while I was arranging the payments so I don't know what he's done, he seemed kinda chill though and talked to my villagers. When I asked where he was, he said he was talking to Cousteau. I picked up all of my villager pictures for sure.. Can they take items from your house? Cause I hope not, lol.. ;-;

Visitors cannot pick up/take items from your house.
Whether hacking will make this possible or not is another matter, as far as I know it is not possible currently.

Can you shut the gate after your trade visitor arrives so that others cannot enter?

I have heard that other players arrive so fast that they have got in before the gates are closed.

I don't wifi normally so have no experience but I do DS to DS & you can shut the gates once your visitor arrives without disconnecting - so its likely to be possible over wifi as well.

Also, when you accidentally go to someone else's town and they are like 'roses?' And then your like OMG WRONG TOWN.

Well, what happened was that I was waiting for the buyer, who had some connection problems. Then a friend came over. I was going to tell her to leave but right as I was sending the message the buyer came over. I was playing as my side character so my friend was freaking out like "WHERE IS DIANA?!" And I had to tell her I was the same person and of course she wanted to know who the buyer was and why they were there, and then as they were dropping the payment, ANOTHER friend came over. I started lecturing them on how you shouldn't randomly crash people's towns as I was trying to guide the buyer to the villagers home. And then it turned into a thing, I don't even know what they were talking about. My first friend was either asking if the buyer was from Bell Tree, or she was saying how I invited her to come to my town from Bell Tree, which I never did, I only invited the buyer. And the second one seemed to have no idea what was going on... After the buyer got the villager I told them to enjoy the villager over my friends, who were seemingly talking nonsense to me... I don't even remember now. And I said I would end but my first friend was like WAIT but I ignored her and ended, I wanted the situation over with.

The first friend is a friend I've had for a while, so she isn't really random. The second one basically is bored all the time and visits any town as long as it's open. So maybe I should delete her.

To be honest, I don't really blame them because I often open my gates for friends. But when I do it I usually say "gates open" over BFF chat. I set BFF on with both of them so they should know to only come if invited.

I did apologize after the trade on the thread I made. But I didn't check if they replied.

Wow, that stinks. That's why having 2 3Ds' is handy for me when I used to cycle (for like two days, then I needed someone to hold Fang and no one replied, so I quit) I actually have Whitney in my cycling town.

Once I accidentallty did that. I was going to someone else's town for a trade and I had done a trade a couple days before that. The person from the previous trade had their gates open too and I went to the wrong town and then they randomly ended so I messaged the person I was trading with and was like "Why'd you kick me out?" and we figured out I had gone to the wrong town. I felt really embarrassed and now I'm sure to delete all friend cards of people I only traded with. :)
