Would you want DLC added?

Sorry if that comes off aggressive lol! I just don't want to have to pay for extra little things that they could just add to the game for free. I, myself, don't have much money and am scraping the barrel just to buy a switch + NH so not being able to have everything already included would be upsetting for me ): anyone else agree?

I don't think all DLC would need you to pay for it.
We have Nook Miles points and in-game currency as well as probably unlocking them through progression!
It would get boring if we couldn't add to the game at some point or recieve rewards or get special event Amiibos.

I am also poor and it'll take everything to save for this! But I don't want to go without in the future ˁ̡̡̡∗︎⁎⃙ ̫⁎⃙ˀ̡̡̡ ̩˳♡⃝︎

I would like DLC as long as you don't pay for it. I hope NH does not have anything buyable with Real World Money, so It does not feel like a money grabber game, and is more rewarding.

If it's free I don't mind.
I mean, if I've purchased a console and the game, I shouldn't have to pay for anything else. It's not PC.

I only think major dlc would be paid. Otherwise, I hope for small updates similar to how updates are handled in splatoon.

Well, New Leaf had free dlc from June 2013 to June 2015 I see no reason why they would start charging money for it now.

Well, AC has been doing DLC from WW and it was always free.

The only games that I know of that used paid DLC recently from Nintendo was botw, but that was optional and wasn't necessary to complete the game but it did add a ton of story for the 4 champions.

In a sense, I wouldn't worry too much about NH having paid DLC, because if their was, it would ruin it, and the developers of AC wouldn't do that (excluding PC because it is a mobile game and is made by a different group of people)

An example of free DLC is Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario maker 2, and they were major in their own sense (Luigi's balloon world for odyssey and that 1.4 update with ninji speed-runs and link costume for smm 2 just to name a few)

DLC is fine. It's more game. As long as it feels like something new and not something they cut form the game. DLC should feel like an expansion if it's something you have to pay for. DLC outfits or furniture, however, are not something I'd want in the game if it's not free or part of something larger.

If it's well made DLC, I dont mind an expansion of the game.

For example, The Champions DLC from Zelda BOTW, The Frozen Wilds from Horizon Zero Dawn, and the Assault on Dragon Keep from Borderlands 2 were fantastic additions to the base game and IMO well worth paying for.

If it's just a few cosmetics, no, I would not like to see DLC like that.

But making more content because fans are happy with the game? Sure, love it.

I don't think we will have to pay for the DLC if they do have any. New Leaf's DLC was free and a lot of it was reorder able, so it's not like only certain people will be able to get it. I do agree though, I don't want to pay for anything else other than the game itself, but like I said, it should be free. c:

free dlc is good, as long as it doesnt take up to much save data on the switch :)

I am OK with DLC, paid or free, so long as it works in the following way:

The DLC should be an expansion pack like Welcome Amiibo was. However, if it is a paid expansion, then you have the concern of how to handle multiplayer with users who have not purchased the expansion pack. The solution to this in my view is pretty straightforward: People who do not own an expansion pack can still receive items from the expansion packs via trade, but they cannot get the items in their own game. The expansion pack would essentially enable whatever game mechanic is needed to get the item, and/or allow you to re-order the item in your catalog after obtained the first time.

I would not be okay with items that are paid for with an in-game currency that is directly transferrable to real currency.

I don't think paid DLC is a good idea for NH.

PC has that, and should be restricted to that game.

Adding paid DLC to a main AC would just be wrong.

It divides players into groups.
Those who pay, and those who don't.

We've paid for the game. Anything else should be free of charge, or obtained via trade.

In my opinion.

hi i respect your point but just wanted to say that paid dlc doesn't necessarily split people into those distinct groups that you've pointed out, generally the dlc is just to add bonus content (such as in splatoon 2 with the octo expansion that added extra single player levels for those who wanted it) or such with the amiibo cards and stuff for NL. I think the only thing the DLC will cause is a lot more trade as people are really nice on this forum and would be happy to trade the paid dlc items to others who don't want to or who can't afford to pay for it. I don't believe that paid dlc is something that should be used to start a division between players, when its something that could bring us closer together :)

I have seen the Sims series ruined by paid DLC and I do not want to see Animal Crossing go down that same path. We've seen how bad it can get with Pocket Camp and I do not want it to even become a possibility for the main series.

I am not overly worried in general about Nintendo DLC since they don't really have a tendancy to have the pay-to-win type of DLC like certain other companies do. Most of the time, if you pay for it, it's either extra quests or cosmetic things that are not required to beat the game. For example, it's possible to complete The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild without the expansion pass or even the amiibos. Another recent example is Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The game has free DLC and paid DLC, and neither (with perhaps the exception of some free patches that were released to fix some bugs) are required to beat the main quest, and it is a game that has 4 separate routes you can play. It's a bunch of extra outfits, a few extra characters, some additional optional quests or abilities, etc.

I don't think we need to worry about NH that much for DLC.

My point wasn't really about dividing people into groups, it was mainly that I feel paid DLC should be kept to PC.

I would hate to see a main AC game go down this path.

I don't think it will, but who knows what nintendo is thinking these days.

Amen to that.

thats a good point, but ac has already got DLC through the amiibo cards, so its kinda already gone down that path

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I really don't care. Regardless of whether or not it has paid dlc I'm still buying it.
