I don't understand the appeal of Peppy designs

Can't we all agree that every villager is good, no matter the species and personality, it just comes down to personal preferences and emotional attachment. If you don't like a certain villager for their design, kick them out, maybe give them away to someone that wants them for free or pwyw. Same goes for personality types, I hear a lot of people disliking smug and uchi villagers, but I love them, they're one of my favorite types, doesn't mean they're bad or that I have bad taste, just means we have different preferences. You like what you like.

I would like it if different aesthetics spread out to each personality types though. Like if normal, peppy or snooty had a goth like Muffy or a punk like Cherry. That would be great to have a central theme on your island, but also have variety in personality types. I was looking through the list of Jock villagers and none really fit what I was looking for except Teddy. Most villagers in the Jock personality have either an Asian aesthetic, a urban aesthetic or a sports aesthetic. Would be great if there was more options there.

i currently have bianca in my town and i LOVE her, and i definitely wouldn't mind having rosie (she's so sweet and cute!!! she's a #1 dreamie), audie, bunnie, chai, cheri, chrissy + francine, cookie!!, felicity, flora, ketchup, flora, maddie, merry!!, peanut, rilla, ruby, tammi, tutu, and twiggy in my town, along with a few others<3

maybe I'm just nostalgia blind, but I preferred peppy dialogue in New Leaf.

Piper said a few days ago while talking with Flo she would rather be popular than apologize and I was really surprised, like ??? what??? that just seems a lot more shallow than anything I heard from them in nl.

I'm not the best to judge designs lol. diva, hazel, and jambette are some of my personal top dreamies..

Why do people like peppy villagers? Well, I can't speak for everyone, but I can tell you three reasons why I like peppy villagers.

1. They are super high energy and cheerful a lot of the time. When I first played ACNL, my dog had just died and even waited for me to come home to him to say goodbye. One of the first villagers I interacted with was Chrissy. Just the fact that she was so cheerful made me feel a bit better even though I had crap going on in my life at that moment.
2. A lot of them are super cute! They just look nice. I know this one is subjective, but I think that most peppy villagers look really cute. My favorites include: Chrissy, Flora, Apple, Bluebear, Bunnie, Chai, Cece, Cheri, Cookie, Penelope, Rosie, Sprinkle, and Wendy. Looking through the designs, there are quite a mix of over the top cute (like Bluebear and Bunnie), down to earth more natural (Bianca, Audie, Dotty), and some themed and quirky (Agent S, Epona, Veronica, Ketchup).
3. Having them being slightly obsessed with wanting to become a pop star has won me over because I do really like idol groups.

Personally I love the peppy villagers a lot, they probably have my favourite designs out of any personality type! But I think all the different personalities are great and have something to offer

i personally dont like Uchi usually, i struggle to find an uchi that i like for my town, but either way i think all of them are respectable and i get attached easily to villagers anyway

I honestly think most personalities have a wide range from awful to great designs. Not sure exactly how the Peppies compare overall to the other types, but I do like a lot of them and have several favorites in that category.
So many in fact, that I’m really struggling with who to keep permanently—so many cute rabbits to choose from, and then of course Tangy, as well as my current resident, Flora!

If you don’t like cute designs I get where you’re coming from, but cuteness really is pretty much a key aspect of the peppy personality.

It’s more of a personal reason but I really love Rosie because I do a lot of idol song/dance covers online and at conventions, and when Rosie talks about dance practice, wanting to be a pop star etc, it’s kinda relatable to me

I don’t like most peppy designs either (or the personality really), not even the ones that you say are “the only good ones.”

The only peppies I truly love are Wendy (my favorite), Audie, Cookie and Maddie.

However, I understand the appeal of peppies to most people, as others have mentioned in this thread. People just like cute things because it makes them happy and I respect that. c: I love cute things too, I just don’t find most of the designs cute.

But I also got that “I’d rather be trendy than apologize” conversation from Patty the other day and I was so shocked, like... that’s not cute at all. :s

Peppies are a girly stereotype. They're thick dimwits, too. I see why they're cutesy over buff and edgy. It makes more sense for them to be this way, as it'd be odd if they looked like the polar opposite of their personality. lol

There are lots of non cutesey peppies that I love and even some that could be considered tomboy-ish i think! Like Tabby, Freckles, Bella, Truffles, and Twiggy come to mind. And as much as I find cutesy kinda overplayed sometimes, I honestly think it fits the personality. They’re just mostly energetic and bubbly and they can be a little superficial to be quite honest. But I think them being self-absorbed and oblivious sometimes is what makes them so interesting and funny, so peppy is definitely in my top 3 for personality types.

I think it's strange when people hate a personality because they said something shallow/rude. Isn't every personality in AC self-absorbed or ignorant in some way? I thought their personality flaws were like, the appeal, because they're silly and amusing. Like I don't see my villagers as role models, they are funny, fussy animals whose favor I must court with gifts. Haha, this little squirrel thinks he's a dreamboat.

I guess normals don't really apply to this at all anymore, but they used to be unhealthily obsessed with cleaning.

I don't find most peppy villagers obnoxiously cute tbh. some sure are, but I think the balance is pretty good, myself.

taste in villagers is different for everyone, we should all be respectful of that.

Because even if you don't like something, or don't understand why people like something, other people are still allowed to like it? Everybody has different, unique tastes. I think it's great that you like the more unappreciated villagers, but you don't need to knock the popular ones in return.

Peppy villagers are popular simply because they're cute. There's Cookie, Flora, Chrissy, etc, all pink and cutesy, which is a popular theme especially in the Animal Crossing fandom. They have fun bubbly personalities, and they can be relatable to some people. That's all there is to it.

Like I said, it's perfectly fine that you have an opinion; everybody is going to have villagers or personalities that they like and don't like. I just don't see the point in making a whole thread about it other than to make people feel like they have to defend the villagers they love.

THIS for real. I think the cute look fits their cutesy personalities. Also, they’re PEPPIES. Please don’t ask the impossible and wish they act like UCHIS. Personalities are made so that there will be variation in gameplay. If you don’t like a certain personality, you’re free to skip them and not have one in your town. But please don’t ask or expect them to change who they are. And then rant about them. Just because you don’t like them doesn’t mean everyone has to not like them too. This is sad, to be honest.
