No, it will be like they never met you.

If you move them to someone else’s island, sort of a holding thing, and then bring them back to yours, it will be the same villager and they will have memory of you. But not if you replace them by scanning in amiibos.

No, they won't each time, they will act as if it's the first time you met. But when I got my Sherb back (was the same) from another island, he did remember me.

Unpopular opinion but I like the nostalgia of the plain houses. It reminds me that I got so lucky in the game right from the start and I got my best friends by fate and not by trading or buying their amiibos. That’s why I’m keeping Stitches in that dirty dusty lazy house that do not in any way suit his personality at all. Just for nostalgia.

As much as I dont like the concept, It does add a weird rarity to those early villagers. It will be the ONLY time you can get their house to look like that and you cant trade for it.

Well, I've been giving my Sherb the furniture that comes with his actual home, and he's been putting it up. Anytime I give it to him, he says that he's been looking for something like that, he loves the color, and he can't wait to put it up in his home.

Of course it won't be arranged the same, and it'll take forever, but I'm not giving my Sherb up.

I don't like it either because I'm keeping four of these villagers and I don't want them to have these dusty-ass houses. I can't simply have someone hold them for me and then get them back, ugh.

It would be fine if they accepted wallpapers and floorings as gifts and actually used them. I've almost gotten all of the weird kiddy rainbow block items out of Cherrys house. She refuses to budge on the table though.

Sadly she will forever have unfitting walls and floors no matter what I do.​

The housing system is the most ridiculous thing ever. I also thought they’d get better with time, but apparently they don’t (٭°̧̧̧꒳°̧̧̧٭) I cri. Thankfully I’ll only be keeping 2 of them, and their houses don’t stray too far from their character designs and personality.

I can't stand the plain houses. I love Fuchsia so I'm gonna let her go when she asks and bring her back later because her real house is SO CUTE and the kiddie-colored block furniture just does not suit her!

I wish I had found Goldie as one of my first three villagers. Her actual house looks veerrrryy similar to the default normal house + a piano, lol.

They should have incorporated some aspect of HHD, and let us offer to help decorate our villagers' homes. Provided we provide the furniture.

The villagers let us relocated their homes, and the starter 2 are okay with us choosing a location for their tent. I am sure they'd be okay with us helping them with interior design.

It'd be nice if they'd change their house if we gifted them the items in their actual interior. Mostly I want to change the wallpaper and flooring, because the "real" Phoebe has magma paper and it's such a departure from her current block set?
Heck, if starter villagers would actually use ALL the furniture you give them, it'd be ok. Phoebe just displays one item on her table and cycles through them. She won't get rid of her sleeping bag.

But like someone said, the rarity of starter homes is kind of interesting. The standard peppy home was actually really cute. And it's fun to find cases where the actual home is worse than the starter (Jacob lives in a trash pile, I guess that's more creative though)

I am still low key hoping that something like this might happen. I'm not expecting it, but I would love for that to happen!

While I love this game for the most part, I agree that the housing system is not that great. I was surprised to see that my starting villagers' houses never changed to their original interior, especially after their expansion. I'm working on getting my starters our because of this because their house is a part of who they are and the starter houses don't do them justice.

I do hope that like others said, a happy home designer type thing where you decorate your villagers houses OR they end up fixing this in an update if people are vocal enough.
