If we're getting into specifics, i mean the first 5 you get.

Sherb was one of my first 3 move ins. On my old island, his house had a nice blue scheme. I miss it. Now he has a basic one, bc i gave him interior items. kinda dull (but i dont miss the music)

Dom was one of the two i started with- HE HAS THE ABSOLUTE BARE MINIMUM. literally nothing to his name💀 i have no idea what his actual home looks like

I wish the villagers you start with kept their actual interior designs.

Update: I heard sometimes moving their homes w Nook changes it? hope so bc I Miss Blue Sherb House

Moving the house to a new spot doesn't change it.

From what I've read (I could be wrong so don't quote me) you can have someone adopt him then give him back and he should have his real house.

Honestly, I was so confused by this because I saw someone post Audie's interior and I'm shook my Audie is broke as hell
Please help me find Dom's my boy POOR AS HECK

only way to fix this sadly, is to kick them out and bring them back

shoot x2 i'll have to find some way to kick dom and sherb out eventually (everyone else idc ab too much except coco)

Can confirm that moving it doesn’t change the interior. Moved every single house on my island and none of their interiors changed.

it really sucks that the starters have some basic default interior - the only starter i plan on keeping is kid cat, and while his default interior isn’t too bad, it kinda sucks that i’ll never get to see his actual interior lol

god yeah, the starting jock house is SO sad... they have... a single table and a sleeping bag forever. I'd be fine if it was just your two starters, but the first five is so many, that's half of your town. Even worse if you actually want to keep any of them, they'll have a sad drab plain wood house forever. I love Audie and I wouldn't want to risk trading her away, so plain wood house it is.

I can understand if the idea was that they're building up their home and starting without having much just like you, but... you eventually upgrade to a gorgeous house and up to half your villagers (if you keep all the starting ones, I had 4 of mine for a long time and still have 2) are left in the dust :( I wish that after a few weeks or so they'd eventually have their real interior, but when they do upgrade and add things it's still just a bunch of basic DIY stuff. It's sad.

It would be nice if there would be a solution to upgrade their houses. I don't like seeing my first five villagers with a boring house, I wish they would upgrade to the actual house not the basic one.

I had no idea about this. I just thought it was a coincidence that my first campers were all into plain wood interiors.

Today I switch Sherb with someone to get his OG house, and to help her get Muffy. It's a useless mechanic. We spent almost 4 hours but we achieve our goal.

He is asleep, but Dom's house is a farm.

Fully agree. Not only do they look broke as all hell in their starter houses, having five out of your first ten houses be identical to the first five on every other player’s island makes it super boring to visit other people’s villagers!

Bianca was my starting peppy and I thought that was the best luck I could ever have because she is my number one all time Animal Crossing love. But seeing her in that default house, full of wooden furniture, that doesn’t match her personality at all, made me so sad that today I pulled the trigger and booted her. I’ll scan her back in via amiibo and rebuild my friendship with her. But it hurt me so much to kick her and the next three days will be brutal. 😭

Part of me really really hopes that whichever designer created the 391 gorgeous and unique interiors that intertwine with each animal’s personality got some kind of office prank revenge on whoever pitched the “let’s give everybody five identical houses” mechanic.
