yes! it didn't happen to me personally, but there was a thread fairly recently asking who people got as a forced camper
it seems about 10% of people encountered a non-smug villager. definitely a glitch, because like you said, they talk like a smug and I believe Isabelle refers to them as "he" even if they're a female character lol
it's really strange this hasn't been patched yet, but there you go
Yesss it's really weird, when my friend said she got Cherry as her forced camper I was really surpirsed because I was like "Wait, Cherry? Isn't she an uchi?" and Nook does refer to her as "he"
You don't always get a smug as ur forced villager, I got a cranky. Someone suggested that it might be due to the updates as I only started my island like 2-3 weeks ago and that maybe the smug thing only happened for a while after the game was released.
I got Gloria, who is a snooty,as my first camper.I thought that this dialogue was "first camper" dialogue and not smug dialogue but after looking over this thread, yeah it could be a glitch.Gloria was still a snooty after she moved in so Quillson is still the only official smug ducky.
I think they revert to their original personality once they move in.
And I did read posts from people saying that their first forced camper wasn't a smug but had no idea that they would have had the smug dialogue as that wasn't mentioned by anyone then. Very interesting though.
