Yesterday I had recieved a free dreamie and procrastinated on plotting her right away. I thought that if I just TT'd back a couple days, I could avoid her trying to move in right away and to my surprise, she plotted her house in a spot I was saving for a pwp. I goofed big time.

Btw, it was Merengue. :(
It just wasn't meant to be, I guess.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? You forget you have a villager moving in and they just plot themselves in an undesirable space?

I will enjoy her for as long as possible but as soon as she asks to move, ima let her go. I always get sad about letting some of my villagers go but it's the fact I can still get a chance to see them in my shopping district that makes me feel better about it.

AT LEAST she was free !! :o

That's crazy bad luck though, I'm sorry you won't be able to keep her. I hope she stalls for a long time on leaving :)

As for your question, no, not that I forget it's going to happen. More like they randomly spawn from the void, and since I don't expect this or do QRs, sometimes it's pretty bad.

Like Avery, came out of nowhere, and I LOVE the birds/eagles. I love crankies, I love Avery's design in particular.
But he placed his home in front of the beach's slope, so he's gotta GTFO of my town.

I'm so sorry this happened, but at least she was free.

I have had something similar happen. I had Anicotti in a spare town where I time traveled for weeds and decided I wanted to move her into my main town. I kept time travelling until she moved out, then streetpassed with my main town. The problem was I thought her plot wouldn't show up until the next day so I didn't plot reset like I normally would. I had laid out QR patterns, but I missed a spot so she ended up taking out a corner of my zen garden. :(

Luckily, her Amiibo card is cheap so I just bought it and moved her right back in...to the correct spot this time.

Good luck with Merengue. I hope you can at least enjoy her while you have her and maybe get her back someday.

Oooh...Merengue, ouch. ( '︹<)
She's one of my favorite characters and I'd hate having to go through the 16 villager cycle hell to get her to be able to move back in my town and replot in a better space.

Lately, I've been getting a bunch of unexpected 10th villager move ins destroying my trees and plants and by the time I log into my one of my villager save files, it's too late to do anything.

And the closest to your experience was when I got an unexpected move in from Chrissy and she plotted her home near my home.where I wanted to place a windmill pwp when I unlocked it. I was really disappointed at first, but I got over it and decided to just move her out and go through the 16 villager cycle to get her back.

Unexpected villager move in aren't what pmo, though, what really irks me is that they choose to move anywhere but the areas I leave open for them.

I've had her many times before and never has it worked out and I'm starting to realize that we ain't meant to be.
1st time, she was one of my original 5, and had no problems with her until I accidentally tt'd too far and without talking to my villagers often enough so she moved out.
2nd time, 3rd, and 4th time, she either randomly moved in, in a terrible spot on her own or I simply forgot to plot her.

She just hates me lol

That's what happened to me! I did the tile trick where if you place a bunch of designs/paths anywhere a house can potentially plot, it will force them to find an open area available for them to move in. I had this one spot I know was open and available for her to move into, (because I've had other villagers move into it with no problems) and instead, my game overrided the fact villagers can't move on top of a design just to place her in the spot I didn't want anyone to be in! :( I could cry.

Eurghhh that?s awful |D I hope one day she?ll work out for you, but /o o f.../

I had a similar thing recently, myself... I had to juggle everything juuust right, bc I had Bunnie in Stardust and I was super excited to move her to Callisto, it was great finally doing that between my own towns! I had s couple spaces lined up for her...

Yeah. Turns out I had /j u s t/ enough room that I didn?t QR off bc I thought it was unnecessary... that she set down. Directly in front of town hall.

... so I burned that iteration of Callisto down (I had been having some dissatisfaction w/the map already, Bunnie just was the last straw), and after only like two or three resets, found an even nicer map, with my preferred fruit to boot xD It sucked losing out on Kiki, Diana and Merengue, since I wanted them for that town, but honestly I?m fine paying to get them back in better spaces.

Cherry on top of this story though? About a week ago while I was cycling villagers (with a /much/ better QR setup that?s letting me landscape a bit too)... in one of my plots, guess who I found?

Guess Bunnie learned her lesson, she set up in a designated zone & has been a welcome addition since xD

I actually have another copy of acnl and I'm really thinking about restarting it so that when I'm ready to move out Merengue, I can just put her in the other town but my problem is I have 70m in that copy and only 20hrs of gameplay. I can't sell back my town yet
And I don't really want to transfer 70m into my bank. Dx
So Idk what to do now. :(

I adopted Stitches from someone and was a little careless with my pathwork. Forever I had it to where I didn't have to worry about them plotting in stupid places. Because the town was so developed they would automatically move in one of my spots. However I accidentally left a small enough section of my path open for Stitches to crush my hibiscus stars, real clover and hybrids. It's going to be extremely hard to get him to leave cause *list of long stuff I'm super particular* but it is my fault after all.

Sorry to hear that this happened to you, that really sucks.

Back then when I still did plot resetting, I made often the mistake to not paying enough attention when my villagers moving in and want to plot their houses. So because of this, I often had to deal with villager houses being in wrong spots and ruined with that my town planning. I either dealt with it and worked around it as best as I could or let them just moved out if they wanted to go in hope to get them back one day.

If you thinking about resetting your other copy, then I would do it, even if you may have to take the time to transfer those 70m into my bank, which is maybe annoying, but at the end, you can then at least starting over a new town and you have also the chance to saving Merengue and placing her in the right spot. But that's just my opinion to this, of course it's up to you what you want to do. I wish you good luck finding a solution for this.

I don't really worry about villager placements myself, I always find a way to work around them but I am so sorry that this happened! When tt'ing in acnl, it is important to know that whether you go backwards or forwards in time, it is always counted as days forward so there is no going back to the past. If she does move out I can hold her for you in my cycle town so that you can get her again? I can hold her for as long as you want (years even lol) I am really good at keeping villagers all original
and it would ensure that you could get her back again. Lmk

Yess like the one time I decided not to plot reset during a week I was playing naturally, I totally forgot about Dizzy's move in date. I guess I didn't do a great job of placing QR codes everywhere because he moved into a horrible spot. That spot grew on me though so it's all good

When I still played everyday I was really into hybrid flowers... it didn't matter who was plotting in my town, but it seemed like every single villager I didn't plan on moving in put their house on my flowers. It made me hate them that much more, they didn't start great if I already didn't really want them and they ruined a giant chunk of flowers.

I was there! I saw the devastation.
I'm so sorry

I'm avoiding getting on because it stressed me out that badly LOL

THAT HAPPENS TO ME ALL THE TIME.
So I try to plot them but I get lazy or forget. I got the brain of a goldfish.

Yeah if you TT backwards it actually counts as one day forwards, it is pretty weird :/
I just got a new town that I have been working really hard to make exactly the way I want. I reset for the town layout for two weeks so I could get the exact layout, fruit, and grass pattern I wanted. I put qr patterns in every spot around the town within a 3X3 space except the exact spaces I wanted villagers to move in, and have been time traveling and placing my dreamies in.
I?ve bought two dreamies recently - Kyle and Fang - where I planned exactly where I wanted to put them, and after an old villager moved out I placed a qr pattern on the ground in the old villager?s space so that my dreamie wouldn?t move there. But twice - not once but twice - I didn?t put enough down and accidentally missed a 3X3 space!! So two of my dreamies moved into really inconvenient spots in my town because I wasn?t being careful!! I?m pretty frustrated about it because I feel like I worked so hard to make sure it wouldn?t happen, and because I didn?t double check before they moved in, I have to change up my plans. I?m not going to move them out or go through the 16 villager cycle again or anything, but I?m just mad at myself for letting it happen. It?s so annoying :( I?m just mad at myself really lol
So I get your pain, although at least you?re not so attached to her that you can?t let her go. I?ve been finding that I just don?t have the time/energy to put myself through that 16 villager cycle so I?m just gonna put up with my mistakes

I did the exact same thing except I know I put enough down. My game removed some tiles just to place her there. I have 2 open spots that I've moved villagers into before but this town has been super spiteful towards me. It just loves to move villagers into this one particular spot and it's so annoying.
Also I thought I was safe TTing backwards because that prevents your upgrades from finishing so I thought that logic was the same for everything else. For as long as I've been playing acnl, I should've known that lol.

I was like woah and you were like NO

Yeah I lied, I was not over it lmao.

That's what I felt when Chrissy moved into the wrong area and now I'm worrying Francine might move in unexpectedly and I'll have to do the whole 16 villager cycle again with her too. When I try plot reseting and I create a new save file, no one moves in. It's until I decide to play with my regular characters that they plot their homes.

I think we all can relate. Dx
That happens to me plenty too. I'm really thinking about doing the 16 villager cycle but also, that's so much work and some villagers are really stubborn about moving. I once had Olaf the anteater, talked to him on his moving in day, and then waited weeks for him to move. He wouldn't leave. So weeks became months, which eventually frustrated me so much, I TTd to 2050 and guess who was still there?! Yup.
Olaf.
So I'm just traumatized by the whole process.
